Bringing Out the Entrepreneur in You

 

A webinar on ‘Bringing Out the Entrepreneur in You’ was conducted by Mr. Mr. Anish Kila - Director - Perfect Group. A second-generation entrepreneur, Mr. Kila talked about his journey to enthuse students about entrepreneurship. He shared how entrepreneurship is all about planting a legacy. He asked students if it’s a buzzword or backbone. He further quizzed students about the most important decision that they have taken in their life till now and how should they prepare for all the decision-making factors. Mr. Kila talked how entrepreneurship provides work satisfaction; helps in asset creation and helps in creating work life balance. Fear of failure, uncertainty and difficulty in getting initial investment to get started makes people scared to become entrepreneurs. He also shared about desirable traits of an entrepreneur as hardworking; possess honesty, loyalty and commitment; have certain sense of flexibility to accept mistakes & improve upon them and be multifaceted.

He asked students to have a vision during their placements thinking of the long haul; chose the work profile amongst various variables to chose from and do something extra apart from the work allocated. Mr. Kila also advised students to think like an owner to become a successful entrepreneur and suggested Amity think radically by involving alumni/faculty/entrepreneurs and industry experts to help students in their entrepreneurial journey. He averred that journey to entrepreneurship begins with a mindset; it doesn’t happen one day out of frustration; one needs to think day in day out about it and take your own time to get ready.

 

 

A webinar on ‘Enhancing Managerial Skills for the Future’ was conducted by Dr Mitali More - Director - Gurukey Solutions where she talked about the job preparedness of students in the post Covid scenario; managerial and other skills required to perform a job and how to enhance their skills for effective and sustainable job. She further averred how manufacturing, hospitality, aviation, health care, travel & tourism, infrastructure & IT among others has been affected due to Covid-19 scenario. Potential products & services including Agri Business or Local grocers; Home fitness; DIY and home improvement; Education (online/video tutorials); Manufacturing/Apparels/Accessories; Property/Real Estate/Co-working spaces; Emotional Health/Psychology/Counselling and Marketing Sales will open up opportunities in the coming times.

Talking about the job skill review in 2020, Dr. More stated that post Covid the skills that would be pertinent include Critical thinking; Creativity; People Management; Coordinating with others; Emotional Intelligence; Judgement and Decision Making; Service Orientation; Negotiation and Cognitive Flexibility. She further averred that the world is moving towards technical and digital skills due to this pandemic. Data Science, Cloud, cyber security, Social media, Affiliate Marketing, Robotics, Business Analysts are the digital skills which will be accepted by the today's Industries.

She advised to students to start taking job and skill development seriously and focus upon skill inventory and career planning. “Concept depth and understanding is also very important. Be Observer and Interpreter; Always look for opportunity plotting and action orientation; News reading and analysis should be the skills which need to be enhance and follow the upcoming trends,” stated Dr. More.     

 

A lecture by Mr. Jayant Bhatt, Advocate and Senior Panel Council for Union of India, Supreme Court of India was delivered on ‘Fake News, Society and Law’. While delivering the talk, Mr Jayant Bhatt said that fake news is problematic in society and not defined in law. “Fake news spreads like a wild fire. Every person holds smart phone and everyone is facing the menace of fake news. Misinformation and disinformation are equally dangerous which can cause disharmony in society. Crime is happening at faster level and in the age of internet there are many wrong information spreading specially through WhatsApp. We all are vulnerable to the fake news and it’s very disturbing that there are lot of incident caused due to fake videos. We need to understand the difference and the responsibility towards other citizens and our country and try to stop the wild fire of fake news,” said Mr. Bhatt.

He also added that the government is trying to fight against fake news because it can create panic etc. and asked students to come together and contribute to stop the spread of fake news. He advised students to break the chain of fake messages.
