Entrepreneurship Opportunities post COVID discussed during webinars at Amity University
In a webinar on ‘Entrepreneurship Opportunities post COVID’, Mr Satishh Menon, Co – Founder, Thirdware Solutions Pvt ltd shared how country had not opened up during the 90’s when he began and how there are many more opportunities present now. “Everything was on a growth path two months ago. And it just required one pandemic to bring everything to a temporary halt. But as the world cannot stop forever and the human spirit and human mind cannot be shackled for now, opportunities will arise. Even now we see people making efforts to come up with prospects and avenues,” shared Mr. Menon. He further shared how working from home can either be normal or abnormal but cannot be the new normal.
“There is definitely going to shake up in the industries with almost 45% of them shutting down across all verticals. But even in adversity there is opportunity as we see a number of measures being taken by the government to ensure continuity and provide opportunities for people to explore entrepreneurship,” stated Mr. Menon. He added that a lot of things will get automated with labour migrating to their home states. “Automation, thus offers a lot of opportunities for people to explore, something that has not been keenly explored all verticals in the country,” said Mr. Menon. He also added how logistics industry in the country is still in the nascent stage and is in an unorganized state, providing opportunities to be explored in effectively managing the logistics industry. He further added that local shops, local produce and local businesses will also see a rise. “These local suppliers were present and supported us during this time of pandemic, which will see people supporting them and getting back to them,” added Mr. Menon.
A webinar on COVID Impact, Learning and Transformation Readiness for Placement was conducted by Mr. Ashish Bhalla, Head - HR - HCL Technologies Limited. He shared COVID has changed everything and the way we define necessities as essentials and luxuries. “Year 2020 the best benefit one can achieve is staying healthy and staying alive. It has impacted a number of sectors including the IT sector. Business continuity is there but our clients are impacted as a result impacting us as well. Big industries have a lot of small segments as well associated with them, causing an impact,” shared Mr. Bhalla. He shared further instances of how every segment has been impacted across the supply chain as a ripple effect. “There has been a lot learning from this situation as well. The faith in the government and expectations from it has also changed. Focus on Healthcare has gone up with new innovations being conducted in the segment. Digital world is now going to be a part of our lives and should be an essential commodity now,” stated Mr. Bhalla.
He shared how maximum workforce at HCL has been working from home since March and how it has not been an easy journey for business continuity. “Business continuity for different cities or different countries is not possible now and this is what we at HCL are focusing upon to find a solution,” averred Mr. Bhalla. Talking about the impact on placements, he shared how organizations are increasingly getting into digital interventions. Calling the scenario as a recession that has never been witnessed before, Mr. Bhalla shared how it will be a tough situation to deal with. “There will be a pressure on organizations as well to survive in this situation and to maintain its costs. You need to be more realistic about the ground situation and restructure our minds on how the placements will be in the coming times. The location of your job might change drastically and could be your home as well. This would also mean a change in set-up and infrastructure at home calling for a real-time balancing between personal and professional life,” stated Mr. Bhalla.

Robots are evolving on hardware and in future you will see robot at your home,” shared Mr. Karwal. He further averred on how the country should focus more on creating robots than just assembling it.
