Role of Yoga, Prananyam and meditation discussed during webinar at Amity University
A webinar on COVID19 - Role of Yoga, Pranayam & Meditation was conducted by Dr D. D. Vichitra - President - International Ashthangyog Organisation under the aegis of Amity Institute of Indian System of Medicine (AIISM). He shared how Therapeutic Yoga is a teaching process and clinical Therapeutic Yoga is taking consultation by a practitioner. Dr. Vichitra shared the physical symptoms of COVID19 and the progression of the virus in the body. Sharing the need for clinical therapeutic yoga, pranayama and meditation, he shared that it was beneficial for the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health of an individual. “There are three kinds of pranayams including Sanshuddhi Pranayam that helps in deep cleaning and purification; Shishirtar Pranayam that is extra refreshing and Pravishi Pranayam that helps in activation with positive energy for all optimal sensation and function. It is important to learn the basic breathing techniques before doing any of the three kinds of pranayama,” averred Dr. Vichitra. He advised the students to practice Yoga for maintaining good health.
A lecture by Ms. Deepika, HR Head, Phillips Machines was conducted on ‘Employee Life Cycle Management’. She shared that employees are the most important investment of the business. “While recruiting great talent can help ensure your company comes out on top, yourjob isn’t over when candidate signs their offer letter. In fact, it's just beginning. The six stages of the employee’s life cycle are attention, recruitment, onboarding, development, retention and separation. Through each of these stages, its job of the HR to ensure employees have everything they need to succeed,” said Ms. Deepika. She further added that when it comes to attracting talent, companies need to stand out from the crowd. “Advertise all the great things that make you organization unique, whether it's your culture or benefits and perks. Here's how to establish your company as a memorable employer. Also, your compensation and benefits package should be about more than bonuses and snack in the office. To attract and retain top talent, you will need a top of the line package that suits your current and potential employee’s needs. 72% percent of employees say that would sacrifice perks for better healthcare benefits,” shared Ms. Deepika.
She further stated that nothing inspires employee loyalty and trust like organizational transparency. Open door policies, executive office hours and frequent company all- hands meetings are great ways to keep employees in the loop on strategic initiatives and business decision. “Flexible working schedules and telecommuting can actually improve productivity and employee retention. 74% of workers would switch jobs for the opportunity to work offsite more often. Take closer look at your company's efforts and offerings at each stage and see how they stack up your employee's expectations and industry standards. Identify and improve gaps you find to increase employee morale, loyalty and engagement,” she shared.
