Nuances of Corporate Story Telling discussed during webinar at Amity University
In a webinar on ‘Importance of strategic story telling in corporate’ Mr. Shashidhar Nanjundaiah, Consultant & Chief Story Telling Officer – Independent shared how the initiatives of hosting these webinars taken by Amity University will assist students in getting used these cultural changes that will be taking place in the coming times. “Story telling has changed and evolved. With progression, story-telling has changed its approach and has come to the social media level which make us come to the question that can corporations be left far behind? A lot of corporations have taken it upon themselves to connect with the last mile users, said Mr. Nanjundaiah.
He further stated how Strategic storytelling is non-fictional, anecdotal narrative; has text, visual, audio, audiovisual formats; can be found in corporate blogs, social media and coffee table books and is there because of the ‘cultural nudge’. He also shared six categories of strategic stories in the form of Springboard; Corporate value; Customer-led; Snowball; Rumour-buster and Thought leadership. “The purpose of corporate storytelling isto cognitive dissonance. Storytelling is transport of audiences to help them make meanings. A strategic storytelling has a purpose that is larger than sales, marketing information and even organizations,” shared Mr. Nanjundaiah.
A webinar on ‘Impact of COVID-19 on the Hospitality Sector’ was conducted by Dr Rohit Verma, Provost/Chief Academic Officer – Vin University & Professor Cornell University. He shared the affinity of people of Vietnam towards Motorbikes with 45 million people having it. He also shared how Hospitality industry is all about experience. “Economic crisis happens rather frequently. These happen because of natural disasters, humancaused disasters and public health crisis like COVID 19, affecting a number of industries including the hospitality industry,” said Dr. Verma.
Dr. Jasmine Trang Ha shared about the key factors affecting the hospitality industry majorly including tourism. Talking about COVID19 impacts on demand, lot of nations suffered. “The impactvaries across stages; early vs global outbreak vs recovery,” said Dr. Trang. She also shared how India’s primary sources of tourists were domestic.
A webinar on India's Strategic Challenges in 2020 was conducted by Mr Atul Singh, Visiting Professor, IIT-Gandhinagar who shared how the global economy was going through a downturn owing to COVID 19. “If the income of people reduces they will be spending less which will have a direct impact on production. India has three primary challenges ahead including economy, geographic politics and institutional. Stabilizing the economy is one of the biggest challenge in front of the government in the coming times,” stated Mr. Singh. He told students that everyone had a huge responsibility yof building the society and students should utilize this time to gain maximum knowledge so that they could fight challenges post COVID19.
A Lecture by Sister BK Vidharti, Senior Faculty, Brahma Kumaris, Om Shanti Retreat Centre was conducted on ‘Accepting the change’. While delivering the lecture Sister BK Vidharti said that Covid 19 is unexpected situation which lead to many sudden changes. “This challenge is more tough when we are not aware that how long this situation will continue. In this phase, the change is also changing with the set amount of time. Our life is full options but our purpose of life is to choose the correct option. We have to change ourselves to walk on that path and then only we can become successful,” said Sister Vidharti. She also added how people have changed their preference, habits, friends circle and are also changing in mental and emotional aspect also. She further averred how change is very important and for accepting the change one has to increase tolerance and patience. “Change is part of everyone life if you accept it will increase your value also. At this point of time we don't have proper remedy for corona virus. But every problem has a solution and our approach should not at all be negative. We all should follow lock down and try to increase on our immunity,” said Sister Vidharti.
