Security Concerns amid COVID-19 addressed during Webinars at Amity University
In a webinar on ‘Emerging Trends in Cyber Security’ conducted by Mr. Hariharan Muthuswamy, Scientist-C, National Information Centre, Delhi focused on the recent security threats being observed in the last few weeks along with the COVID-19 crisis. Sharing a COVID specific security checklist, Mr. Muthuswamy askedstudents to keep certain basic steps while using the home network to work or study from home. “Update your firmware, OD, Software & Antivirus with latest updates & patches; use non-admin user account for day-to-day activities; disable Powershell and remotedesktop; Install apps from official app stores, applicable mostly for mobile phones; don’t use any illegal/pirated software; use multi-factor authentication for your account and don’t re-use passwords; maintain offline backup of critical data; don’t clickon any URLs, shortened links without proper verification; don’t open any mail attachment/shared or download files without scanning it with antivirus and avoid installing any unnecessary browser plugins, toolbars etc,” shared Mr. Muthuswamy with the attendees.He also shared the recent example of the fake Arogya Setu app that has also surfaced recently giving the hacker direct access to the phone on which it is installed.
A webinar on ‘Resilient Mindset’ was conducted by Ms. Roopshree Surana, Freelance Motivational Speaker on the ability to sail through tough times, to bounce back in life. She stated that the way one conducts themselves during a crisis adds to their image. “These uncertainties are causing stress to allage groups. We need to practice resilience than ever before which is the ability to bounce back. Sometimes it is better to grow with the flow. And if these times are used wisely, they will help us to grow,” said Ms. Surana. She shared how every adversity bringsout the hidden opportunities. “We need to get hold of these opportunities keeping our resilient mindset intact. The ways to adapt and develop with the resilient mindset include how to reprogram your brain to develop yourself and write positive and empoweringstatements to give your mind the positive signals; Believe in yourself and question yourself to get rid of these limiting beliefs; Bring something innovative in your learning and become a student of the market and be aware of its needs and direction. One ofthe best ways is to connect and build your relations and upgrade your skills,” shared Ms. Surana.
A lecture by Mr. Aditya Pratap Singh, Deputy Commandant National Disaster Response Force, Government of India was organized on ‘General Awareness and Do's and Don’ts regarding COVID-19’. While addressing the students, Mr. Singh asked students to follow many precautionary measures to be safe even if they are home. “There are many frontline workers like doctors, nurses, guards, police force etc who have to go out and work so that you all can live safe life. So, you are blessed that you are staying at home. Also, don't over think about the current situation and spend time with your family. Take good diet, do exercise, yoga, meditation etc,” shared Mr Singh. He also advised students to not fall into the myth news trap as social media is full of information during this crisis that mayor may not be true. Mr Singh also suggested students to utilize this time to enhance their skills and be productive.
A Lecture by Prof. Om Prakash Singh, Head Department of Kaya Chikitsa, Faculty of Ayurveda, IMS, BHU, Varanasi, UP was organized by Amity University on ‘Ayurveda and Science’. Prof. Singh talked about how many of the diseases in humans are caused by adverse environmental factors like water pollution, air pollution, soil pollution, poor housing, insect vectors, animal reservoirs etc. Due to industrialization and urbanization environment pollution has increased, resulting in increased morbidity. He further shared on the reasons behind choosing Ayurveda as it is an alternative, natural and safe treatment option across the world. “Ayurvedic and herbal medicines ensure physical and mental heath without side effects. The natural ingredients of herbs help bring Aarogya (health) to human body and mind. According to the original texts, the goal of Ayurveda is prevention as well as promotion of the body's own capacity for maintenance and balance. Ayurvedic treatment is non-invasive toxic, so it can be used safely as an alternative therapy or alongside conventional therapies,” shared Prof. Singh.
A webinar on ‘Evolving Role of HR in Current Scenario’ was conducted by Dr. Saumya Badgayan, Corporate Strategy, HR & IR Gold Star Jewellery. It was shared how HR ceases to be just another support function when there is so much happening around us. “Business understanding & skill management in alignment with the business shall be the name of the new game. To achieve that we have to perform talent pool assessment and create a career trajectory for the assets and alignment of the contribution of the business needs is a must. Identifying and creating talent banks not only inorganization but in other domains as well is also needed. We have to be PR/ Spokesperson for the organization,” said Dr. Badgayan.
It was also shared how making collaboration and not competition should be the new mantra. “Share information, knowledge and personal touch, which make the employee, feel connected to the main stream. Make them realize the moment everything grows, their growth will happen. Always train managers to manage a remote team. In today’s world those organizations that are standing with their employees during this tough time has created brand identity,” shared Dr. Badgayan.
A lecture by Mr. Cyril Jose - Assistant Vice president HR Talent Development and Training Dept., Federal Bank Ltd was organized on ‘How to be a Leader? Best Practices from around the World’. Mr. Jose shared how being in the management for the first time you feel tremendous pressure to be a great dictator. “But if you are asked to define what makes a management act great, how will you react. Most of the management is aware of the basic principles of good leadership but only a few people are able to organize the obscure ideals learned over the years. Great leaders are aware that management focus has two key areas: work and relation. If you are good at both, you work will be rewarded with success. And it’s important to maintain a balance between both,” shared Mr. Jose. He further compared a leader to parents who are constantly showing their children the right path. He averred that a leader good leader should also do the same and keep leading the team on the right path.
