Post COVID Preparedness Discussed Across Webinars at Amity University

In a webinar on ‘The Challenges for Marketers Post Covid 19’, Mr Kaushik Bhattacharya, General Manager - HRD - Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) shared how these unprecedented times have put businesses go through a hard time. “Best way to approach a threat is to take it as an opportunity to upskill yourself .Organizations are looking to become stronger and healthier post COVID-19. And one should not lose or waste this time of lock down rather utilize it and equip yourself as we grow with learning,” said Mr. Bhattacharya. He further added that the world post corona will be vastly different. With global experts predicting for the worst yet to come, Mr. Bhattacharya advised that organizations need to be future ready, build new muscles and be ready for the upcoming scenario. “Planning for future is not nice to do but is a need to do right now. Looking ahead, organizations will look to have virtual or virtual co-working depending upon readiness. Innovative digital model of customer contact for business & support will be explored,” stated Mr. Bhattacharya. Looking at the future he stated that India can become a global factory as brand China is weaker now. “But it has to be done independently, methodically and in quick time. There may be a surge in demand from affluent consumers and companies for specific items. Tech and digitization will increase and new areas might include customer contact, cloud services, data analytics etc. Firms are likely to embrace the virtual and physical space and benefit from both,” averred Mr. Bhattacharya. In a lecture by Mr Arvind Sharma, Country Manager, L&E India on the ‘Impact of COVID 19 on Supply Chain’ it was shared how supply chain drivers changed due to high demanding customers, shrinking product life cycles and proliferating products offerings. “Efficient supply chain management must result in tangible business management. It is characterized by a sharp focus on revenue growth, better asset utilization and cost reduction. Factors like cross functional management and planning skills, ability to define, measure and manage service requirements by market segment and by building relationship management play a critical role,” shared Mr. Sharma. He further stated how industries should plan the future after COVID-19 by educating their employees on its symptoms and prevention. Workplace should reinforce screening protocols, restrictnon-essential travels and promote flexibly working arrangements along with being careful with the cash flow. Another webinar was conducted by Mr Abhijit R Raizada of Hotel Piccadily on ‘Market Segmentation of Hotel Guests’. He shared how it is important to understand the market segmentation of hotel guests for the growth in the hospitality industry. He also stated how it is pertinent to know the category to which the hotel belongs like an airport hotel, a tourist hotel etc and who is the customer coming to the hotel. The categories are divided and based upon demography of the guest; geography from where the guest has come from; behavior of the guest and the psychological aspects. Mr. Raizada also advised the students to not make false promises to their guests as this can hamper the reputation of the hotel. A lecture on ‘How to Keep Yourself Motivated During the Pandemic’ was conducted by Dr. Poonam K. Ahuja who is a self-employed Insightful Talker. She shared how everyone is hearing the words lock down, pandemic and corona on a regular basis. In this second phase of the lock down, people should be prepared for every eventuality, both physically and mentally. “We need to motivate ourselves and even our friends and family members during this time,” said Dr. Ahuja. She also advised students to eat healthy not just during the lock down but always; complete eight hours of sleep and includeyoga in their lives. She also suggested students to do things and activities that make people relieve stress and not allow negativity to become part of their lives. Helping those who need it and inspire people with their positivity is what she suggested further to students. Another webinar on ‘Radio Media and digital Radio’ was conducted by Ms Kavya Raval, Executive Programming - Radio Mirchi. Talking about the journey of radio in the country and the various segments it has, Ms. Raval shared with the students the emerging trends in digital radio and how it was transforming the medium. “Thereis a whole team behind an RJ who is involved in creating a radio programme. Content is the king in radio and plays an extremely crucial role,” shared Ms. Raval. She also shared how social media is the need of the hour and RJ’s have been quick in adopting and getting on to the social media. She also told the students the need for people in the field to leverage the social media platforms, memes etc that are gaining a lot of popularity these days. She stated the example of Amul and its popular strategy of using the social media to share messages pertaining to social issues in news.
