Diversity Day celebrated by Amity Dalit Synergy Forum and Vanchit Pratisthan

Amity Dalit Synergy Forum and Vanchit Pratisthan took a giant stride in empowering “Dalits” by organizing the first ever Dalit National Conference at India International Centre, Lodhi Estate, New Delhi. It called for parity between the mainstream and backward communities, who are mostly receded to the dark corners of the society.

Amity Dalit Synergy Forum (ASDF), which was formed on the 14th April 2006 on Ambedkar Jayanti, is an endeavour of a great visionary and a true altruist Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, to emancipate the most oppressed people of all mankind. This forum envisages promotion, protection, perception, persuasion, campaigning, networking, advocacy and enrichment of Dalit issues. As a social engineering initiative, ADSF inculcates the ethos of social entrepreneurship and corporate social responsibility. It envisions to help Dalits stand independently and support their families by providing educational opportuinities and professional training.

Chief Guest Mr. Digvijay Singh, former Chief Minister Madhya Pradesh and General Secretary AICC on this occasion called upon organizations to come forward and work for the upliftment of Dalit Community. He cited the example of implementing Supply Diversity Scheme for Dalits during his tenure in his State as a model in providing and procuring essentials so that Dalits could be entrepreneurs and self reliant.

Throwing light on the present scenario of Indian Polity and Economy Dr. (Prof.) Sanjay Paswan, Chairperson- Vanchit Pratisthan and Ex- minister, Government of India on the occasion of “Diversity Day” commented that proper attention is not given to the Dalits of the country. Reservations for Dalits have not worked to the community’s advantage and are still socially, politically and economically weak. Much effort needs to be laid towards this field. Dalits want to play an active role in diverse field of activities and their contribution and specific competency be reckoned, recorded and acknowledged. “We need to provide them with opportunities so that they can come at par with other communities”, said Dr. Paswan.

Chairing the conference, Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President Ritnand Balved Education Foundation, laid stress on starting the Dalit upliftment programs, being need of the hour and said that we need to sensitize the society regarding the issues, problems and plight of the underprivileged section of the nation. This community has suffered a lot of discrimination, seclusion, marginalization and deprivation. With a focus on synergetic approach, he further stressed that Dalits have contributed immensely in all sphere of life, despite opportunity obstruction. There is a need to come forward to ameliorate the pathetic condition of this lot of society. They don’t need sympathy but their dues. Dr. Chauhan firmly believes in synergy and not the mere sympathy.

During the conference it was also decided that: 1.Every year “Remembrance day” will be celebrated on 4th February on the birth anniversary of Sh. K.R. Narayanan.
2.Every year on this occasion Diversity Year Book will be released.
3.Dalit and Diversity Journal will be prepared by Dr. Sanjay Paswan.
4.Diversity India Campaign Steering Committee will be formed at University level.

On this occasion seven books authored by eminent authors Mr. H.L. Dusadh and Dr. (Prof) Sanjay Paswan were released.
