Pukyong National University, South Korea collaborates with Amity University Its first collaboration with an Indian University

 

Academic Delegation from Pukyong National University, South Korea, comprising of Prof. Jang Young Soo, President, Prof. Kim Hyun-Woo, Provost of International Affairs and Prof. Fazhurrahman Khan, Institute of Fisheries Sciences, Pukyong National University visited Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida Campus. On this occasion an MoU was signed between Pukyong University South Korea and Amity University for promoting research collaboration.

 

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Jang Young-Soo, President, averred, “ Pukyong National University has four Campuses including Daeyeon Campus focused on education and research, Yongdang Campus for Industry-University collaborated research, Gijang Campus for the Institute of Fisheries Sciences and Goseong Campus for the Marine Science and Technology Center.This is the first time that we are collaborating with an Indian University and we are glad to choose Amity as our partner, since it is a globally recognized, prestigious institution, which not only imparts high quality education but also focusses on human values, cultural ethos and world development through science & technology.”

 

Presenting a brief overview of Pukyong National University, Prof. Kim Hyun-Woo, Provost of International Affairs, said, “We would like to collaborate with Amity University since both Pukyong National University and Amity share common values, thoughts, beliefs and ideologies. Student Exchange Program, International Dual Degree, International Summer School, International Students Support Programs, and Korean Language Programs are some of the areas where we aim to foster strong ties with Amity.”

 

Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Education Group, stated, “Collaboration is the key to the emergence of novel thoughts and ideas which can lead to the development of nations. Therefore, Amity University is glad to collaborate with Pukyong National University, since both Universities focus strongly on science & technology, which can transform the world and provide immense societal benefit. The exchange of knowledge, expertise and learning between the scientists of both Universities, will play a key role in changing the S&T landscape of both the countries, leading to unprecedented world development.”

 

Highlighting the significance of collaboration, Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, AUUP, said, “This collaboration will strengthen the ties between Amity and Pukyong National University by focussing on diversity of thoughts and synergy of actions. This is the “Amritkaal” for India, wherein, research and innovation has taken centre stage, and the country is developing at a fast pace. Therefore, collaboration with other institutions is very crucial during this time, to ensure that the momentum of growth is maintained, and further advancements can be made in every field, particularly in the field of science & technology.  Amity is also launching a nine-month Training Programme for Korean employees which will enable them in enhancing their skills and capabilities for their professional career. “ 

Prof. (Dr.) Gurinder Singh, Group Vice Chancellor, Amity Universities presented an overview of the Amity Education Group with a focus on global partnerships and internationalization and said that Amity University looks forward to partnering with Pukyong National University through joint research initiatives, joint campuses and student and faculty exchange programs.

 

Presenting the Research initiatives of Amity Education Group, Dr. W. Selvamurthy, President, Amity Science Technology and Innovation Foundation said, “Amity strongly believes in the philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam’, which means ‘one earth, one family’ and this association marks the beginning of a mutually beneficial relationship for both institutions, by embarking on a journey of scientific innovation and research.”

 

During the visit, the guests took a round of the Amity campus including the Central Library, ASCO studio and Amity Innovation Incubator and the visit concluded with the felicitation of the guests.
