Amity University Uttar Pradesh Noida campus organized the 13th edition of Amity International Model United Nations’ 2024 (AMIMUN’24) from 19th January to 21st January 2024, on the theme, "PAX PER PRAXIS", "Peace Through Action." The Amity International Model United Nations (AMIMUN) is an international platform that engages with a transforming world and combines it with the ability to adapt the integral to the Amity vision as a bridge between delegates from various backgrounds, united in their ardour for debate and dialogue.
Sharing his words of wisdom, Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Education Group, said, “Throughout its evolution, AMIMUN has blossomed into a dynamic platform, drawing together the brightest and most innovative young minds form various nationalities and regions within the country. The ethos of AMIMUN very much resonates with the philosophy of Amity which focusses on values and sanskars and more importantly, the understanding of cross-cultural nuances.”
Addressing the gathering, Her Excellency Mateja Vodeb Ghosh, Ambassador, Embassy of Slovenia, averred, “Slovenia is focussing on the problems of climate change, building trust and peace across the world, food security, water security and women security. In the unsettled world, there is a need to integrate different approaches and mindsets and work towards achieving peace and security in the world since it is not about winning but achieving progress and development.”
Delivering the message on behalf of His Excellency, Mr. Denis Alipov, Ambasador of Russia, Guest of Honour, Mr. Mikhail Antsiferov, Cultural Attaché, Embassy of Russia in India, said “The United Nations is an unparalleled representative platform for searching balanced solutions to vital issues of peace and security, sustainable development, climate change, global healthcare, human rights, world heritage, etc. It is a priority forum for Russia and India, which along with other like-minded countries are deeply committed to strengthening the UN’s central role in the international affairs. The need of the hour is to support true democracy in international relations reflecting the aspirations of major developing countries of Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The UN model exercise by Amity University is timely, given the current global dynamics amid the emergence of new polycentric reality.”
Highlighting the significance of the Conference, Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor Amity University Uttar Pradesh, opined, “Besides academic and research excellence, Amity University strongly focuses on overall personality development of the students. Through AMIMUN, the students at Amity are nurtured holistically and encouraged to think analytically as future worldwide pioneers on issues that concern the nation and the world.”
Emphasizing upon the need for Indianness, Mr. Daniel J., United Nations representative at USI, asserted, “Peace building in the UN, stats and the government starts from the self and that is why India with 1.8 billion population maintained a balance between the governance and diplomacy. USI is the second oldest Defence Think Tank established in the year 1870. We deal with military heritage, strategic security, geopolitics, military doctrine, and skill development of officers of army, navy and air force. From this year, the organization is going to engage with the civilians also apart from defence personnel. We need to pay immense gratitude and respect to our soldiers who have sacrificed their lives for the nation’s peace and security, by participating in 12 peace keeping activities and we lost 177 lives for the global peace. AI & Quantum Computing will change the whole world, post covid and we need to be the leaders instead of being workers and lead the world on the path of peace.”
Delivering the Opening Address Prof. (Dr) Anil Sehrawat, HOI, Amity Institute for Corporate Communication & Chairperson, AMIMUN’24, said, “The 13th edition of the Amity International Model United Nations (AMIMUN) Conference will host over 1000 Participants from over 22 states in India and 15 Countries across the World. AMIMUN 2024 shall follow the theme: "PAX PER PRAXIS" which means "Peace Through Action." This theme is an embodiment of a profound concept that demands intellectual prowess, strategic vision, and pragmatic execution.”
Ms. Gauri Sareen, Secretary General, AMIMUN 2024 was handed over the Gavel for the 13th edition of AMIMUN 2024 and AMIMUN ’24 Newsletter was also unveiled during the Inaugural Ceremony.
