Prof. Sadhana Ravishankar is a Professor, Animal and Comparative Biomedical Sciences, Member of the Graduate Faculty, Chair, Applied BioSciences – GIDP and, Professor, Applied BioSciences – GIDP. Prof. Sadhana is also the Chair, UA Food Safety Consortium.
Prof. Sadhana’s research interests include, Control of foodborne pathogens; natural antimicrobials; biofilms; bacterial stress response, Food Safety and Consumer Health, and Environmental Microbiology
Dr. Sadhana Ravishankar's aim is to contribute towards a significant reduction in illnesses by improving the safety of foods by:
1. Researching practical solutions, with an emphasis on natural products for the food industry in order to provide safe and wholesome foods for the consumer
2. Teaching courses on food microbiology and biotechnology
3. Providing outreach activities engaging producers and communities
4. Providing microbiology testing services to industry
