Amity School of Fashion Design and Technology conducted a lecture on the “Mysteries of Colour-Colour Matching and Metamerism” in collaboration with Society of Dyers and Colorists, India on 23rd October, 2019, from 10am to 1pm. All the students of ASFDT were present for the lecture. The event commenced with the felicitation of the guests, followed by the Lamp lighting ceremony. A brief introduction about the guests was given by Mr. Purnesh Jagad. Then the event moved onto its main highlight, the seminars on Understanding the Mysteries of Colours by Mr. Yogesh Gaikwad in the first half and Mr. Subash Nayak took it a step higher and talked about Visual and Digital Assessment of colours, through the topic ‘Colour Matching and Metamerism’.
Color is an important element today in all fields. Metamerism is perceived as matching of colors with different (nonmatching) spectral power distributions. Color is often the most salient element of design and perhaps the least understood. In order to understand more about the Mysteries of Colors, Color Matching and Metamerism, two well-versed dignitaries with more than 20 years of experience in industries were invited to shine more light on these topics.
The Mysteries of the colours were broken down to faculty and students through a highly enriching presentation that started off with the informative video on how animals perceive colors compared to human beings. The revelation of the mysteries concluded with the secret of being successful, “Be Original! Be Original! Be Original! “. Furthermore the science behind the concept of colours and how humans see colours were explained. Moreover, the ideas regarding basics of colours, colour communication, colour order system, Metamerism, LAB Values and visual colour communication were discussed. Being in the 21st Century, a digital era, visual and digital assessments of colors were also introduced. The problems of mismatching colours can be now easily tackled through Metamerism.
All Good things must come to an end, a highly educational and equally enriching seminar came into a conclusion after the thank you speech by Mr. Purnesh.
