Primary Wing (I to V)
At Amity our belief is that the essence of teaching is to make learning contagious, to have one idea spark another.
Education for us is not synonymous with textual learning but more akin to skill building. We encourage students to experience and enquire. Amitians must not take things lying down , they learn by questioning in an ambience of creativity which is enforced through various lab activities be it in a Math lab, Science lab or Language room . We seek to educate them not only for a sound career but also to equip them to face life with its complexities and to help them develop into integrated human beings.
Students here are made to learn, absorb information and demonstrate the knowledge grasped in different ways and teachers at Amity often use an array of techniques which cater to multiple learning styles to help students retain information and strengthen the understanding of concepts. A variety of strategies and methods are used to ensure that all students have equal opportunities to learn. A lesson plan is carried out in several ways such as : questioning, explaining, discussing, debating ,collaborating ,demonstrating and co-relating the concepts to real life situations .
In keeping with the guidelines from CBSE, we follow the comprehensive and continuous Evaluation system which aims at the holistic development of each student. The academic work of each child is answered through formative and summative assessments. Therefore there is no formal examination till class IV.
The curriculum allows the flexibility of choosing a child centric methodology in which emphasis is laid on learning by experimenting. The curriculum in Primary classes follows an integrated approach by providing hands on activities to strengthen the academics. The usage of Interactive Board & Power point presentations makes the teaching-learning process more interactive & lively.
The Clay Modeling classes, Craft Mela, Vasudha & Mathamity ensures 100% participation acrossall primary classes and enriches & enhances the learning experience along with making the students critical thinkers.
We also seek to enlighten them on the richness of our tradition and value system ..Workshops & talks by eminent personalities are conducted which offer an enriching learning opportunity for Amitians to develop an appreciation of our values and heritage.
METHODOLOGY (Classes VI-XII) MIDDLE & SENIOR WINGS
The curriculum is planned with the aim of providing a broad, balanced and relevant course of study for all of the students. This is set within the context of the CBSE curriculum and promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, social, and physical development of students, thus preparing them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life.. A wide range of teaching and learning strategies are employed in all areas of the curriculum.
The emphasis is on developing the right study habits and acquiring in-depth conceptual knowledge. The curriculum is extremely research-oriented, based on teamwork via discussions, group project work, discovery and exploration. Personality development value education and coping with peer pressure are stressed upon at this stage.
Apart from the prescribed CBSE syllabus, the school strives to cater to the need to prepare for competitive entrance exams, through result-oriented training by experienced professionals. The emphasis at this stage is on total development targeting the desired success.
The CBSE initiative of Comprehensive and Continuous Evaluation has been joyfully and willingly adopted by us in classes IX and X, much to the advantage of the students.
To accomplish the above goals and objectives, we at Amity have a teaching methodology which is a happy balance of pedagogical theories integrated with activity based learning.
