Amity School of Architecture and Planning, Lucknow (ASAPL), was established in 2008 with the recognition from the Council of Architecture (CoA) to run a full-time 5-year courses for Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Interior Design. Since its inception, ASAPL has grown and evolved into a leading full-fledged scholastic institute, nurturing talented young professionals in the fields of architecture and planning. It is recognised as the most creative, academic, and entrepreneurial academic destination in the country.

The B.Sc. Interior Design programme of 3-year duration was introduced in 2013 under the guidance of highly qualified experts from academia and industry, which has now been upgraded to a 4-year full-time Bachelor in Interior Design course. The institute is a unique place for pursuing architectural education as it focuses on innovative methods of imparting knowledge, hands-on activities, creative intellectual orientation, experiential learning, and effective mentor-mentee programmes complimented by world-class infrastructure facilities.

With a large number of national level conferences, seminars, symposia, and workshops held throughout the academic session, ASAPL has grown into an all-round development centre that caters to the holistic development of its students. The institute supports, motivates, and sustains academic programmes whereby students are trained in upgrading skills to improve human habitat and the environment. The institute has been constantly working to contribute to making an efficient, comprehensive, and aesthetic habitat and surroundings.

The Bachelor of Architecture and Interior Design programmes aspire to reach the highest echelons of architectural design excellence. The foundation of the programme is the studio-based exercises, supported by the theory lectures.Contributions from experts in the arts, humanities, engineering, and technology, as well as professional practise of architecture, ensure a well-rounded curriculum. Along with imparting knowledge, the students are trained in various skills including drawing, architectural presentation, research and writing, seminars, public speaking, computer applications, and technical and managerial aptitude in problem definition and solution seeking.

 

The library is a veritable treasure trove of books, equipped with online access to books and journals. A dedicated computer laboratory, a state-of-the-art seminar room, a construction yard, a model room, a climatology laboratory, and a surveying laboratory are available to the students as regular learning aids.

The curriculum includes one semester each of industry training and project work to inculcate the professional skills and develop the entrepreneurial acumen of budding architects.

The ASAPL has grown and enriched its horizons by continuously upgrading its pedagogical approach to maintain vibrancy and enthusiasm in architectural education. ASAPL has adopted the use of innovative teaching processes to sustain the enriched learning environment and vigour among the students, impart education by specialised faculty members and mentorship through professional experts. The School is a student-centric institution, which exclusively provides guidance at various levels, and in different aspects of human habitat and environment. It has taken the lead in introducing academic programmes in specialised fields at the bachelor's level (Bachelor in Interior Design), which is available at very limited universities across the country.

In its bid to aim for excellence, the school has always been in the lead in encouraging students to extend their boundaries of knowledge. Sustainable development being the foremost concern of the school and the development of students into global citizens being the ultimate objective, the spectrum of academic programmes is being continuously extended. Regular local study visits are conducted within the city, which possesses a vast repertoire of heritage monuments such as Bara Imambara, Chhattar Manzil, Residency, Dilkusha, and many more.

The school is planning to develop a Centre of Excellence in the field of Sustainable Architecture. This centre will serve as a focal point for research activities for students, scholars, and innovators involved in experimental studies and analysis.

The faculty members are highly motivated towards academic and research activities. Many faculty members are engaged in research in various domains of architecture, namely generating comfortable conditions through architectural forms, urban renewal of core city areas, urban futures, and structural typology of urban areas, low-cost habitation, and revitalization of Parikrama Marg, the religious sites of Ayodhya, Mathura, and Varanasi.
