Amity Institute of Pharmacy, Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior, successfully organized a community outreach program titled “Ami Care: Promoting Awareness About Water Borne Diseases” on 20th March 2025 in alignment of UN Sustainable Development Goals-3 (Good Health and Well-being). The initiative aimed to raise awareness and promote healthier practices among the villagers and Anganwadi students of Gram-Birja, Gwalior, regarding waterborne diseases.

The program was led by Faculty Coordinators Mr. Arvind Singh Jadon and Dr. Narender Kumar, along with 20 students from the B. Pharm program. The event focused on educating the villagers about the significance of clean water, proper sanitation, and the early detection of illnesses like cholera, typhoid, and diarrhea. Mr. Arvind Singh Jadon delivered an informative session, stressing the importance of hygiene practices and the preventive measures required to protect oneself from waterborne diseases.

Aim & Objective of the Program:

The main objectives of this community outreach program are

  • To educate community members and Anganwadi students about the common types of waterborne diseases (e.g., cholera, typhoid, dysentery, hepatitis A).
  • To raise awareness about the link between poor sanitation and the spread of waterborne diseases.
  • To contribute to a measurable reduction in the number of cases of waterborne diseases within the community.
  • To emphasize the importance of using clean and safe water for drinking, cooking, and hygiene.

 

Details of the Programme

In this community outreach program, 20 B.Pharm students and the 2 faculties of AIP actively participated. This program was successfully planned and organized with the consultation of Dr. Manoj Kumar Mishra, Director, Amity Institute of Pharmacy, Amity University, MP. 

Mrs. Saheli, Anganwadi in-charge allowed our students and faculty to communicate with them. In addition to raising awareness, the outreach program provided essential support to the community. Fruits, face masks, and medicines were distributed to children and women at the local Anganwadi center in the village. The initiative aimed not only to address the immediate health needs of the villagers but also to promote hygiene and well-being within the community.

Finally, as a gesture of appreciation, Mrs. Saheli was presented with memento by the organization. This thoughtful act served to express gratitude and honor towards the contributors for their efforts.
