Guest lecture cum workshop “Soft skill (Communication and capacity Building)”

 The Amity Institute of Pharmacy, Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior was conducted a guest lecture cum workshop on the title “Soft Skill (Communication and capacity building)” on Monday 11th November 2024.

 
Aim & Objective of the Programme: 
 
The aim of the guest lecture cum workshop program is to holistically prepare participants for professional success by developing essential communication, interpersonal, and self-presentation skills that are critical for career advancement. Through focused sessions on group dynamics, pre-interview mindset, and resume and interview excellence, the programme seeks to enhance participants' ability to lead and contribute in collaborative environments, present themselves with confidence, and communicate their qualifications effectively to potential employers. The main objectives of this guest lecture cum workshop were:
 
  • This session focuses on building essential group discussion skills, enabling participants to communicate their ideas clearly and confidently. It emphasizes active listening to foster thoughtful engagement and responsive communication. 
  • Participants will learn effective strategies for both leading and contributing in group settings, including managing diverse perspectives, promoting collaboration, and facilitating constructive dialogue. 
  • The session also aims to enhance decision-making and problem-solving abilities within a team, preparing participants for collaborative challenges in professional environments.
  • A session helps participants understand the vital role of non-verbal communications such as posture, eye contact, and gestures—in interview success. It promotes self-awareness in presenting a professional, yet authentic personality suited to interview contexts. 
  • Practical techniques for reducing anxiety, maintaining composure, and boosting confidence will be taught. Additionally, the session will cover professional appearance standards, guiding participants on how to create a polished first impression that aligns with their personal brand.
  • A session teaches participants how to craft concise, impactful resumes that effectively highlight relevant skills, achievements, and experience. It covers methods to tailor resumes for specific job roles and industries, emphasizing the candidate's unique value. 
  • Interview readiness is enhanced through strategies for confidently answering both technical and behavioral questions. Participants will also develop skills to articulate their career goals, strengths, and fit for the role, ensuring they leave a lasting impression on potential employers.
 
Details of the Programme
 
The guest lecture cum workshop on the Soft skill (communication and capacity building) was a highly anticipated event, drawing active participation from B. Pharm 1st and 5th  semester’s students and faculties of AIP and AUMP, Gwalior. Meticulously planned under the guidance of Dr. Neeraj Mishra, Offg. HOI of Amity Institute of Pharmacy, and coordinated by Mr. Hero Khan Pathan, this program aimed to delve into the preparation of participants for professional success by developing essential communication, interpersonal, and self-presentation skills that are critical for career advancement. The event commenced with a ceremonial homage to Goddess Saraswati, symbolizing wisdom and knowledge, setting the tone for an enlightening discourse. Esteemed guests Dr. Bishakha Mandal (Associate Professor) Amity System of Communication Enhancement and Transformation, AUMP, Gwalior, Ms. Anvesha Singh (Assistant Professor) Amity School of Languages, AUMP, Gwalior and Dr. Sarvesh Raj Rocque (Training Officer) Amity System of Communication Enhancement and Transformation, AUMP, Gwalior graced the occasion, their presence adding immense value to the proceedings. Dr. Mandal's notable expertise in the field of English literature added credibility and depth to the discussion. Offg. Head of the Institution, Dr. Neraj Mishra, delivered an introductory note, shedding light on the significance of the event and its relevance to the academic and professional journey. Dr. Bishakha Mandal then took the stage, delivering a captivating lecture on “Group Discussion Dynamics: Leading and Participating.” Her presentation explored the group discussion techniques and how to effectively lead. Consequently Ms. Anvesha Singh then took the stage to deliver an insightful lecture on “Mastering the Pre-Interview Mindset: Body Language, Personality, and Appearance.” Her presentation offered essential guidance on preparing both mentally and physically for successful interviews.
 
Finally, Dr. Sarvesh Raj Rocque took the stage with an engaging lecture titled “Resume and Interview Excellence: Your Path to Success.” His presentation offered practical tips and valuable guidance on effective resume building and interview skills. All the guest speakers were felicitated by our Offg. HOI, Dr. Neeraj Mishra. The vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Hero Khan Pathan, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to all the speakers and participants for their valuable contributions.
 
Overall, the expert lectures served as a platform for intellectual exchange and knowledge sharing, fostering a spirit of communication and capacity building.
 
The entire session was skillfully anchored by Dr. Sangeeta Hazarika, who guided the event with expertise and enthusiasm. With her engaging approach, Dr. Hazarika created a welcoming and interactive environment, encouraging active participation from attendees.
