AMITY SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS VIRTUAL 5TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
Photography Club

“The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera.”

— Dorothea Lange

Obscura, the photography club of Amity School of Economics, gives the students an opportunity to showcase their camera work and nurture their talents while helping them perceive a different reality through the lens. Some of the most important and historic moments have been captured and preserved through the art of photography. And now, with the ever-increasing focus on capturing our everyday life and showcasing it through social media for everyone to see, Obscura helps the students understand the significance of the big moments as well as the value of celebrating the joy oflittle things.
The Club has organised many events encouraging students to observe the world in a slightly different way. It has taught students the importance of learning new things such as understanding how even a little change to the lighting can alter the whole perspective of an image and how taking a closer look through macro photography can make everyday objects seem extraordinary. The students also get to display their artwork through photo-walks, exhibitions and workshops.
Photographs lead to nostalgia about the times long gone and remind us of the things we did, places we have been and who we were, and being a part of Obscura, the students are better equipped to capture these moments.
