This indeed is a matter of immense interest and learning outcome that Amity Institute of Defence & Strategic Studies (AIDSS) and Amity Centre for Defence & Strategic Analysis (ACDSA) are jointly organising an insightful and thought-provoking Virtual Seminar on the occasion of “Vijay Diwas- Indian Victory in 1971 Indo-Pak War” at Amity University Uttar Pradesh Noida Campus from 10:30 a.m. to 01:00 p.m. on Monday, 16 December 2024. Lt Gen Dharam Vir Kalra, PVSM, AVSM (Retd), PhD Scholar at AIDSS and former Director General Ordinance Services delivered the Keynote Address as the Chief Guest of the Virtual Seminar. During this important Virtual Seminar, there were exhaustive coverage of Land, Air and Sea Operations by senior experienced and decorated war veterans from tri-services and brilliant students of AIDSS which included luminaries such as Maj Gen Rajan Kochhar, VSM (Retd), Air Vice Marshal Ajay Shukla, VM (Retd), Dr Deepali Khaire, Rear Admiral Alok Bhatnagar, NM & Legion of Merit USA (Retd). Col (Dr) Rajan Bakshi Director, Amity Centre of Strategic & Defence Analysis (ACDSA), Dy. Commandant, Amity Institute of Education & Training (AIET) Associate Professor, Amity Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies (AIDSS) was moderated the Virtual Seminar. Sunil Prem (Retd.), CEO of Brisk Olive Speaker wise discussion points (as per program flow): Amity Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies (AIDSS) conducted a panel discussion on the topic "Privatisation in Defence Manufacturing: Challenges, Prospects, and Strategy" as part of the broader mission of Viksit Bharat Abhiyaan and was held during the 6th International Conference on Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Leadership (ICEIL) at Amity University, Noida. The discussion chimed well with India's strategic impulse towards defence self-reliance through privatization and indigenous innovation. --Maj Gen (Dr) Pawan Anand initiated the discussion in opening remarks underlining the importance of defence manufacturing as one of the primary pillars for this initiative, Atmanirbhar Bharat. Citing the world's defence budget rankings, he stated that India's defence budget stands at $74.7 billion, considered the fourth largest in the world in 2024. Holding a corpus of $12.4 billion for defence technology, with 25% of the R&D budget to the Defence Research and Development Organisation, India plans to issue 660 industrial licenses in the next three years. Maj. Gen. Anand also pointed out that the country is now better positioned on the global map for exports and imports of defence, he also stated, "We are fourth amongst the 12 nations of the Indo-Pacific grouping, as per the report of SIPRI." He also underlined the necessity of consistent supply chains and reforms in policies as well as smooth processes to increase indigenously produced domestic defence. --Mr Raveeswaran Nagarajan spoke about the challenges and opportunities that come with India's defence sector. He added that the external threat for India is seen because of natural disasters, terrorism, and economic deterrents. He mentioned that technological improvement is required in the sector. He suggested that reading Freedom Four by Herman would provide a much more in-depth overview of what goes about in the defence policies. Nagarajan said that the aerospace defence sector makes 25% profit and is reaped by the government revenues. --Col. Sunil Prem shared his entrepreneurial journey with Brisk Olive, highlighting his start-up's global and local impact. His technological innovations include several projects under the iDEX initiative like Project-1, a 50-m Rapid Floating Footbridge, Project-3, a 'Friend-or-Foe' Identification System for Tanks, and Project-4, a 'Force on Force' Tank vs. ATGM Defence System. --Col. Arvind Kumar elaborated the crucial role iDEX was playing for innovation in Defence manufacturing. He further emphasized internship opportunity under iDEX to engage innovative young talent towards cutting-edge defence solutions. --Brig Brijesh Dhiman spoke of the crucial growth story of India's defence production – as impressive as an IR 150 billion increase in the last two years. He also mentioned that the private sector has managed to garner close to 20% of India's defence production market, under the Make in India initiative. Next, he spoke of the growth of MSMEs and start-ups within the sector, reporting, as of January 2023, 14,000 MSMEs and 329 start-ups. This conference comes with a multiple round of perspectives that are poised to drive India’s huge potential of strategic privatization, enhanced public-private partnerships, and focused innovation in India's defense manufacturing sector. The deliberations have given excellent insights into the future trajectory of India's defense industry as a key driver of both national security and economic growth.
Chanakya Defence Dialogue, Drivers in Nation Building : Fuelling Growth through Comprehensive Security, conducted by Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS) was held at Ashoka Hall, Manekshaw Centre, Delhi Cantt. On 01 Oct 2024 from 09.30 am to 11.15am. The programme was attended by Col (Dr) Rajan Bakshi, Associate Professor AIDSS, Dr Deepali Khaire, Assistant Professor AIDSS, Ms Vidushi Sehrawat, PhD Scholar and Ms Khushi Kaur Arora, PG Student.

Brig (Dr) AK Tewari (Retd.), Professor & Director AIDSS called upon Lt Gen VG Khandare, PVSM, AVSM, SM (Retd), Principal Advisor, MoD and presented his book ‘Geo Politics in the 21st Century.

Amity Institute of Defence & Strategic Studies (AIDSS) under the aegis of Amity University Uttar Pradesh (AUUP), Noida Campus  organized a commemoratory programme on the special occasion of ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas (Rajat Jayanti)’ which included Special Talks on the themes related to Kargil War from 10:30 a.m. to 01:30 p.m.  on 26 Jul 2024 on Virtual Platform. Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated every year on 26 July to commemorate India's victory over Pakistan in the Kargil War for evicting Pakistani Forces from their illegally occupied positions on the mountain tops of Northern Kargil District in Ladakh in 1999. Maj Gen (Dr) Bipin Bakshi, AVSM, VSM (Retd), Senior Fellow with Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS), Former DDG, Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analysis (MP IDSA), joined from Kargil. Lt Gen (Dr) SK Gadeock, AVSM (Retd), DG AIDSS and Prof (Dr) Nirupama Prakash, Director AISS were gave talk on the occasion. Rear Admiral Alok Bhatnagar, NM & Legion of Merit USA (Retd), had given a Talk on 'Operation Talwar' launched by Indian Navy. Air Commodore Aman Nautiyal, VSM (Retd) has spoken about on 'Operation Safed Sagar', launched by Indian Air Force. Brig (Dr) Anand Kumar Tewari (Retd), Professor and Director, AIDSS gave talk on the occasion. Col (Dr) RK Kapur (Retd), Officiating. Registrar, AUUP spoke on 'Command and Communication Challenges during Kargil Operation'. Col Suhail BS Kumar (Retd), OSD to Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, AUUP  shared his views on 'Logistic Challenges in Kargil Operation'. In addition Domain experts, Students of AIDSS, Ms Kumkum Chaudhry, Ms Medhavi Khushi Sharma and Ms Geetanjali Bhati also enlightened the participants with the narration of KARGIL WAR stories,  the Supreme Sacrifices made by our brave soldiers and Officers in their line of duty paying  glowing tribute to our martyrs. 

 

Amity University Uttar Pradesh, in collaboration with Bharat Forge Ltd., Pune, organized the prestigious Bhartiya Raksha Vimarsha” (Indian Defence Dialogue) on the theme “Defence Technology & Integrated Joint Warfighting Perspective. The event marked a significant milestone with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Bharat Forge Ltd. and Amity University, aimed at fortifying the industry-academia partnership in the defence sector. This collaboration is set to enhance research and innovation, fostering self-reliance in defence technology.  

The event was graced by prominent personalities, including Padma Bhushan awardee Shri Baba Kalyani, Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Forge Ltd. Shri Kalyani shared his invaluable experiences and insights, highlighting Amity University's role in India's progress towards becoming a developed nation by 2047. He emphasized the importance of technology-driven defence strategies and the critical need for India to develop its products to achieve self-reliance.

Mr Kalyani underscored the vast opportunities available to India’s young population, particularly with advancements in AI and Quantum Computing. He stressed that the defence sector should be driven by cutting-edge technology rather than just policies and procedures. Highlighting the demographic advantage, he mentioned that India's young population positions the nation uniquely to leverage technological advancements and lead globally in the defence sector.

Dr. B.K. Das, Distinguished Scientist and Director General (ECS), DRDO, delivered an inspiring address, celebrating India's rapid development across various sectors. He emphasized that every Indian should take pride in their nation's achievements in spirituality, economy, research, science, and innovation. Dr. Das elaborated on the acronym INDIA, representing Industries, National Forces, DRDO, Incubation Centres, and Academics, as the foundational pillars for national development.  

DRDO’s Vision for a Technologically Advanced India 

Dr Das highlighted the importance of exports for economic growth, noting India's substantial achievements in this area. He underscored that India is poised to take the lead in the manufacturing sector, driven by the combined efforts of various national stakeholders. Dr Das's message reinforced the strategic importance of continued collaboration between industry and academia to foster innovation and technological advancement.

Dr. Atul Chauhan, Chancellor of Amity University, expressed profound gratitude to Shri Baba Kalyani for sharing his inspirational journey with the students. He recognized the strategic importance of the defence industry sector and Amity University's pioneering role in offering specialized programs like M. Tech in Defence Technology. Dr Chauhan emphasized that the future belongs to the current generation of young leaders, who are crucial to making India the most developed nation globally.  

Transforming Education Through Industry Collaboration 

Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Amity University, emphasized the significance of the MoU signing ceremony. She highlighted the essential role of strong industry-academia collaboration in aligning the curriculum with industry requirements. Dr. Shukla stated that this partnership aims to train students in Defence Technology, with a commitment to fulfilling the vision of a developed India by 2047.

Dr. W. Selvamurthy, President of Amity Science Technology and Innovation Foundation, discussed the key focus areas of research and innovation at Amity. He praised Bharat Forge for transforming the defence research ecosystem and encouraged students to make significant contributions to the defence sector. Dr. Selvamurthy's address reinforced the importance of innovation and research in driving technological advancements in defence.

Welcoming the guests, Lt. Gen. (Dr.) SK Gadeock, AVSM (Retd), Director General of Amity Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies, underscored the importance of events like Bhartiya Raksha Vimarsha. He highlighted their role in enhancing the strategic understanding of defence and national security issues among students. Lt. Gen. Gadeock called upon students to pledge their commitment to the development of the country.  

The one-day event featured enriching sessions on topics such as “The Transforming Landscape of Warfare: Gaining Insight into the Dynamic Changes” and “The Technological Revolution: Analyzing the Effects on Military Operations”. Esteemed defence experts, including Air Marshal Anil Chopra, Maj Gen BK Sharma, AVSM, SM & Bar, Lt Gen Sunil Srivastava, AVSM, VSM** (Retd), and Dr Swasti Rao, among others, provided valuable insights on significant contextual issues. The event was well attended by faculty, students, PhD scholars from Amity Universities, Tri-Services Institutions, and dignitaries from the NCR.

A Virtual Global Seminar organised by Amity University UP (AUUP) on ' Asian Conundrum and the Emerging Strategic Dilemmas" on 29 nov 2022.

During his visit to India on November 17, 2022, US Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro was greeted by a group of 60 enthusiastic Amity University Uttar Pradesh students  at the American Center on Kasturba Gandhi Marg in New Delhi. The conversation between the Hon’ble Secretary and young students and aspiring entrepreneurs about the relationship between the United States and India in terms of defence cooperation as well as the overlap between careers in technology and defence was quite lively and interesting.  The children benefited greatly from the visit, which was quite insightful. Under the auspices of the US-India defence cooperation, they talked and asked questions about potential careers in military and defence matters. After the interaction,  Lt Gen (Dr) SK Gadeock, AVSM (Retd), Director General amity Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies (AIDSS) and Rear Admiral Alok Bhatnagar NM LoM (USA) (Retd), Deputy Director General – International Affairs Department (IAD), alongwith Amity Student representative, Amlan Mishra felicitated the Hon’ble Secretary with traditional gifts

With his distinguished experience of over two decades as an accomplished mentor, anchor, correspondent, lecturer, writer and a commentator with extensive experience on issue of National Security and Strategic Affairs;, Mr Maroof Raza is Consultant and Strategic Affairs Expert with the renowned TV Channel, 'Times Now' and also Mentor of Security Watch India, a not-for-profit initiative that addresses issues of India's Internal Security. Currently Consulting Editor (Strategic Affairs) of Times TV Network, he   appears regularly on their several English and Hindi languages TV channels. As an expert on military and security matters, he has appeared almost on all of India's leading TV channels and on BBC's World Service. A brilliant scholar, all throughout, Mr Maroof Raza graduated from St Stephen's College, Delhi; obtained his Masters Degree in War Studies from the prestigious King's College, London and went on for his M Phil degree in International Relations from the world renowned Cambridge University. A best selling author, television commentator and an award winning documentary maker and a far sighted visionary, his ‘Talks’ range from the Threats of ‘Terrorism’ to India Pakistan and the Kashmir issue, Sino- Indian relations and what India should do to become a great power. 

 

 

 

An MoU have been signed between Amity University Uttar Pradesh (AUUP), Noida and Directorate of Naval Training (DNT), Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (MoD), Navy, New Delhi on 15 Sep 2022 to work closely to collaborate in Academics in areas of Mutual interest in physical sciences, engineering, pharmacy, management and social sciences.  

 

 

Amity Institute of Defence & Strategic Studies (AIDSS), Amity University Uttar Pradesh (AUUP) in collaboration with Chanakya Forum, New Delhi  organised a very discerning Joint Symposium of strategic importance on the theme, “Information Warfare” conducted by Maj Gaurav Arya, Media Icon, Founder and Editor-in-Chief Chanakya Forum (Think Tank),  on Tuesday, 23 August 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 12.10 p.m. at F-2 Auditorium under the dynamic stewardship of Lt Gen (Dr) SK Gadeock, AVSM (Retd), DG AIDSS, Vice President Amity Science Technology & Innovation Foundation (ASTIF), Vice Chairman Amity Institute of Defence Technology (AIDT) and Commandant Amity Institute of Education &Training (AIET). Major Gaurav Arya, who is founder and Editor-In-Chief of Chanakya Forum is going to have an interactive session with the students at F-2 Auditorium to enhance the participative learning process. Maj Gaurav Arya is an alumnus of St Stephen College, Delhi and Officers Training Academy, Chennai. He was commissioned into 17th Bn the Kumaon Regt as Short Service Officer and after serving for six years left the Army in 1999. Thereafter, Maj Gaurav did his MBA in Marketing and Sales and then stepped into the corporate world. He has worked with top corporates like Wipro, Hutch (now Vodafone) and Ernst & Young. He was CEO and President in a Singapore based MNC before he joined the media in 2017. He is also Senior Consulting Editor for Strategic Affairs for a leading Indian media conglomerate. The topic “Information Warfare” is very relevant, important, and contemporary which affects the security of an individual, society, and the nation. The changing character of war and its emerging dimensions which are often referred to as grey zone, non-contact, cyber, and information warfare, are fuelling some serious debates and actions across the world and these aspects are now a part of every country’s war preparedness roadmap. The Information Warfare should not be hyphenated with war time activity only, as such, it is ubiquitous in character and demands to be imbibed in perspective with due alacrity by armed forces of a country.

 

 

An MoU have been signed between Amity University Uttar Pradesh (AUUP), Noida  and Centre for Air Power Studies (CAPS), New Delhi on 05 Aug 2022  Air marshal Anil Chopra, PVSM, AVSM, VM & VSM, Director General, CAPS, AVM Anil Golani, Additional Director General CAPS and Lt Gen (Dr) SK Gadeock, AVSM, Director General AIDSS and Col Rajan Bakshi, Associate Prof. AIDSS were present on the virtual signing ceremony. 

A strategically significant ‘Scholar Centric’ virtual joint global Seminar on “ Asian Resurgence Strategic Rebalancing and New Geo-Political Challenges” was organised by Amity University, Noida Campus with great passion and fervour, under the dynamic stewardship of Dr Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President of Amity Education Group, on 27 Jul 2022. The Online Joint Global Seminar was planned with exactitude as a ‘PhD Scholar Awareness’ Programme by Amity Institute of Defence & Strategic Studies (AIDSS) under its Director General, Lt Gen (Dr) SK Gadeock, AVSM (Retd). These intellectual defence-oriented strategic Seminars are regularly being organised by AIDSS with most eminent personalities on its panel, having diverse national and global credentials for ensuring meaningful outcomes, contributing to wisdom on geo-strategic issues and promoting scholastic excellence. It was very well conducted and attended by faculty, students and PhD Scholars from Amity Universities, Tri Services Institutions, various dignitaries, senior veterans from the Armed Forces and other eminent citizenry from the NCR.

 

Amity Institute of Defence & Strategic Studies (AIDSS) under the aegis of Amity University Uttar Pradesh (AUUP), Noida Campus  organized a commemoratory programme on the special occasion of ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ which included Speeches by the Dignitaries from 11:00 am to 12:35 pm on 26 July, 2022 on Virtual Platform. Lt Gen (Dr) AP Singh, PVSM, AVSM (Retired), Former Director General of Army Air Defence and Former Commandant (Vice Chancellor) of Army Air Defence College, Gopalpur, Odisha and Maj Gen (Dr.) Arun Kumar Gupta, Former GOC, Pashchim UP Sub Area and Students of AIDSS enlighted the participants with the narration of KARGIL WAR stories and the Supreme Sacrifices and pay glowing tribute to our martyrs.

A High-level delegation from Australian Universities visited Amity University to deliberate upon potential areas of collaboration between Amity and Australian Universities.  The delegation was led by David Templeman, Minister of International Education.  Government of Western Australia, comprising of Jamal Qureshi, Director of Education South Asia Government of Western Australia; Robyn Robb, Director International Education, Govt. of Australia; Kelly Smith Pro Vice-Chancellor International, Murdoch University; Melissa Kelly-Policy Advisor, Govt. of Western Australia, Derryn Belford, CEO, Study Perth and Professor Amit Chakma, Vice Chancellor, University of Western Australia, amongst others.  Minister for International Education for the govt. of Western Australia, David Templeman, addressed the audience and said “coming from a teaching background, I admire the learning, passion, and commitment of the highly regarded Amity University and its well qualified teachers.  Universities from Western Australia are interested in working with amity to create a strategic partnership in the fields of science and technology, research and innovation, commerce and finance, and other crucial areas.  Australian Universities are interested in starting a journey of respect, appreciation, learning, and values so that young, talented students from both nations can make significant contributions to the academic cooperation between the two countries’ economic development.  On this occasion, the “Participation of amity University at Joondalup Innovation Centres’  was also launched in the presence of Chris Lawrence, Curtain University; Dr Parwinder Kaur, Associate Professor, UWA School of Agriculture and Environment; Dwig Gupta, Perth Student Ambassador from Australia; and Dr W. Selvamurthy, President, Amity Science.  

 

Amity University Uttar Pradesh and the Centre fir Land Warfare and Studies signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 05 Jul 2022 to develop a long-term symbiotic co-operation in the fields of national security, defence research, and strategic and tactical studies.  Under the visionary leadership and dearly held dream of the Education icon, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Education Group and Dr. W Selvamurthy, Vice President, Amity Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies (AIDSS), the MoU was signed on a virtual platform to begin a “Centre of Excellence” in the aforementioned domains (AIDSS). Gen. Ranbir Singh, PVSM, AVSM**, YSM, SM (Retd), Director of CLAWS, emphasised the significance of the MoU by ascertaining that the organisation is an independent thinktank focused on strategic studies and land warfare in the Indian context.  By raising the awareness levels of military commanders, students, researchers affiliated with PhD programmes, and professors strategic issues relevant to contemporary defence and national security, the MoU will help the two top institutions in many ways.  With the use of this MoU, we hope to discover and take advantage of fresh possibilities for cooperation between the institutions.  Researchers and academics who will brainstorm strategic ideas and support the expansion of both institutions will share ideas.  The MoU will set a standard by elevating the professional aspirations of defence researchers, and collaborative seminars will be held as a result.  Bo the organisations will greatly profit from this as there will be   an interchange of pertinent strategic ideas, perspectives, and thoughts.  

Amity University Uttar Pradesh and ELCOM Innovations Pvt. Ltd. An Indian company founded by technologists and professionals and providing a full range   of locally designed and developed products & technology platforms in the field of electronics and communication, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Mr Pradyil U Sgaonkar, Director and Member of The Board – Elcom Innovations Pvt. Ltd. Commented on the importance of the signing of the MoU by saying. “ELCOM is focussed on Aerospace, Communication and Electronics particularly in Avionics, Tactical Communication, Homeland Security, and upgrades of Unmanned Ariel Vehicles (UAV) across Defence and Intelligence forces and our R&D has been working on various aspects of this collaboration for the last four months.  The partnership between ELCOM and amity is simply the start of a long-term relationship from which both sides will gain.  Every Memorandum of Undertaking should be goal-oriented, thus fresh approaches must be developed to maximise the potential of this partnership.

 

Ph.D. The program at AIDSS commenced in Jul 2019 and since then the strength has grown to 33 Ph.D. Scholars out of which 29 Scholars are from Defence Services background from the rank of Captain to Major General and equivalent ranks of Navy and Air Force. It is pertinent to mention these officers arrived from far and remote border areas of the country to attend SRC/DRC. It was a rare post-Covid occasion that all Ph.D. Scholars had congregated at AIDSS for SRC and DRC over three days from 25 May to 27 May 2022. It was an intense, condensed, cerebral, and intellectually simulated interaction among Scholars, Faculty, and Staff. It resulted in great benefits to Scholars as they were given the mid-course correction by their guides/Members during SRC and DRC. Scholars have apprised all concerned about the progress they are making and their future research endeavors and charted course.

On May 18, 2022 In conjunction with the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies, the Amity Institute of Defence & Strategic Studies (AIDSS) at Amity University in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, hosted a Joint Virtual Seminar on “India’s Integrated Theatre Commands : Prospects and Challenges”.  The Seminar’s goal was to re-establish the strategic imperative for India to transition from traditional Service Specific Commands to Integrated Theatre Commands in order to face the developing challenges and paradigm in Modern Warfare dynamics. Lt Gen PS Mehta, Former GOC 21 Corps and Former MGGS Western Command, Indian Army, remarked of the “Genesis and Evolution of Integrated Theatre Commands”.  “We create our war methods without missions, and via Integrated Theatre Commands, our mission would become well-defined.”  However, before establishing Integrated Theatre Commands, we must address command structure, resource shortages within the Indian Air Force (IAF), inadequate experience, and inter-services competition..” Various distinguished panellists  shared their insightful and research-based perspectives on a variety of topics, including “Outcomes of the Integrated Theatre Command,” “Challenges, Scope, and Framework of Integrated Logistics command.” “an Overview of the Integrated Air Defence Command,” and “An Overview of Peninsular/maritime Theatre Command,” among others, for the benefit of all defence and strategic studies researchers.  Faculty, students and PhD Scholars from Amity, Tri Services institutions, various dignitaries, senior veterans from the Armed Forces, and other renowned citizens attended the Webinar in large numbers.

 

On May 17, 2022 Amity University in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, hosted a high-powered group from the University of Ottawa in Canada, Prof. Jacques Fremont, President and Vice-Chancellor, University of Ottawa, and Prof, Sanni Yava, Vice-President, International, University of Ottawa, were among  the distinguished dignitaries who visited with the goal of exploring potential areas of collaboration, inline with Amity’s vision and mission of international collaborations with leading global universities.

“It is a matter of great satisfaction and privilege for us that we have visited the distinguished Amity University today to investigate the fields of research and academic partnership”, said Prof, Jacques Fremont, President and Vice-Chancellor, University of Ottawa.  “The University of Ottawa is one of the top 150 universities in the world, and we share a commitment to research and innovation with Amity University.  We will be able to broaden our horizon through the exchange of knowledge and learning between the two universities as a result of this mutually beneficial relationship” he continued.

 

“International Student Exchange program, Teacher Mobility, Tailor-made Administrative Training.  Exchange of Faculty Members for Teaching, and Mobility of Administrative Staff are some of the ways in which we might interact,” he continued, highlighting potential areas of collaboration. 

 

During their tour, the dignitaries visited with Amity teachers and students who provided their important inputs and suggestions for a successful relationship.  To familiarise themselves with the campus facilities, the dignitaries also toured the high-tech laboratories.  Central Library, Amity School of Communication (ASCO), and Amity Innovation Incubator.

Virtual Global Seminar organised by Amity Institute of Defence & Strategic Studies (AIDSS), Amity University Uttar Pradesh (AUUP) and University of Birmingham, UK on 29 April 2022, Friday from 10.00 a.m. to 05.15 p.m.  on the subject “EMERGING GLOBAL MULTIPOLARITY AND STRATEGIC TRANSITION IN WORLD ORDER” (Context of Russia-Ukraine Conflict). It is a matter of great honour that Right Honourable, Lord Karan Bilimoria of Chelsea, CBE, DL, FCA, Chancellor of Birmingham University, UK has delivered the Keynote Address as the Chief Guest and shared his perceptions & sterling thoughts on the Topic with the faculty, students from various Amity Universities in India and overseas n distinguished veterans n guests. Lt Gen KJS Dhillon, PVSM, UYSM, YSM, VSM (Retd), Former Director General Defence Intelligence Agency (DG DIA) and Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff also delivered the Keynote Address for the first part of Scholar Centric Global Seminar. The Global Seminar was conducted in two Parts i.e., Part 1: Scholar Centric Seminar and Part 2: Global Seminar. The Seminar was moderated by Lt Gen (Dr) SK Gadeock, AVSM (Retd), DG AIDSS, VP ASTIF, Vice Chairman AIDT n Commandant AIET, Amity University.

Martyrs Day is observed on 30 January each year to pay glowing tributes and profound homage to those who made supreme sacrifice in the struggle for India's freedom. It is a matter of great honour and immense pride that Amity Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies (AIDSS) is organizing Virtual Seminar on the Martyr’s Day (Shaheed Diwas) on Sunday, 30 January, 2022 to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi and all freedom fighters, who fought relentlessly for the freedom, justice, equality and prosperity of our great country.   This indeed is a matter of great honour that Lt Gen Iqroop Singh Ghuman, PVSM, AVSM (Retd), former GOC-in-C Central Command has kindly consented to grace the Seminar on such a ‘Noble Theme’ and deliver Keynote Address to the Students of Amity Universities and share his sterling thoughts and pearls of wisdom on the Topic, “Gandhiji’s Iconic Leadership as a Freedom Fighter”. Further, it would also be a great privilege to have presence of another distinguished personality, Dr Sanjay Dewan, Honorary Consul General, Honorary Consulate General Republic of Cabo Verde, who has kindly consented to deliver a talk on the Topic ‘Mahatma Gandhi, an Epitome of Secularism’.  The primary aim of organising this virtual event, besides celebrating the Martyrs' Day, is to familiarise all Amitians and the Youth of the country to Martyrs day, which is also known as Shaheed Divas, so as to make them aware of the relentless struggle,  unremitting momentum of non-violent movements, extraordinary sacrifices and repudiation of peace keeping endeavours, in the face of oppressive efforts made by the colonial rulers to soften the impetus of the mass protestations made by our freedom fighters triumphantly. The Britishers ultimately lost, however, numerous freedom fighters lost their precious lives in their struggle for freedom, but left their imprints for the younger generations of independent India to emulate and establish a peace loving, harmonious and growth oriented developing nation.
