Amity University Kolkata Organises 3rd International Conference on Translational Research Applications in Human Health and Agriculture

Amity University, Kolkata hosted the 3rdInternational Conference on Translational Research: Applications in HumanHealth and Agriculture, from 23rd to 25th September, 2017. It was jointly organized by “Indian Society of Translational Research” in association with Amity University, Kolkata, Bose Institute Kolkata, and National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS), Pune.

The purpose of this conference was to exchange scientific information worldwide and to discuss recent advances in both broad and specialized areas of experimental and clinical research. The conference laid emphasis on applications in human health and agriculture. Amity University, Kolkata served as a platform for the meet of international and national stalwarts of the scientific world. The conference highlighted some of the promising research focusing on the areas of pre-translational to translational applications. It comprised of intellectually stimulating scientific sessions with oral and poster presentations by scientists and research scholars. 44 renowned scientists presented their work and 38 young researchers participated in the poster session, 16 International scientists from USA, UK and SINGAPORE participated in the conference.

Theconference began on 23rd morning with an inaugural programcomprising of cultural programme conducted by students of Amity Institute ofBiotechnology. Various lectures delivered by invited guests. Prof. V. S.Chauhan, Chairman, University Grants Commission (UGC), Prof. (Dr.) Dhrubojyoti Chattopadhyay, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Kolkata as well as otherdignitaries from across the world were present to grace the occasion. Theinaugural program was followed by different scientific sessions chaired byeminent scientists and poster sessions.

 

 

AmityUniversity, Kolkata served as a platform for the meet of international andnational stalwarts of the scientific world. The conference highlighted some ofthe promising research focusing on the areas of pre-translational totranslational applications. It comprised of intellectually stimulatingscientific sessions with oral and poster presentations by scientists andresearch scholars.

Dr.V.S. Chauhan, Chairman, UGC spoke the reasons why Translational Research is so very important. He appreciated Amity University for conducting such conferences as it provided the very much needed platform for resolving different issues related to biotechnology. He explained why Translational Research is getting so popular now a days and discussed on the need of scholars in this field of research. He also highlighted the importance of both public & privately funded institutions and make the people aware about the change in mindset regarding private institution.

Prof.(Dr.) D. Chattopadhyay, Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Kolkata mentionedabout the importance of both basic and translational research for the service to the society. He mentioned the role of Universities to be more active in generating the research mind among the students. The Amity University feels to make it as a research driven university as per the vision of Founder President,Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan.

The schedule of the second day also comprised of different scientific sessions as well as poster presentations. In addition, there was a technical session on that day and stalls were presented by different companies for all the three days, which aided their interaction with the scientists and students.

The last day of the conference was equally exciting as the previous two days.Scientists from different fields came together in a single venue to share their scientific work and future perspectives. It ended with a valedictory session by the organizing committee, which included awarding of best poster presentations and concluding remark by them. We could get a glimpse of the next important meetings and conferences that would be held in the future. The conference ended with a group photo session that helped to capture the wonderful memories of the conference.
