Guest lecture by Professor Debabrata Chakravarti

Amity University Kolkata conducted an insightful lecture of Professor Debabrata Chakravarti from Northwestern University. The subject of this conversation was prostate cancer and endometriosis. He discussed the upregulation of GATA2, GATA4, and GATA6 genes in endometriosis, based on comparative studies of normal and affected samples. He specified the Myc oncogene as a key therapeutic target in prostate cancer. His explanation included how the Myci inhibitor disrupts the Myc-Max complex, impairing tumor survival, and facilitates Myc degradation, leading to the upregulation of the ATF4-dependent apoptotic pathway. Professor Chakravarti's work advances targeted cancer treatments by introducing new therapeutic approaches for prostate cancer and providing insightful information on gene regulation in endometriosis.
