National Conference on Data Science Innovations in Astronomy (NCDSIA)
The National Conference on Data Science Innovations in Astronomy (NCDSIA) was inaugurated with great enthusiasm. Organized by the Department of Statistics at Amity University Kolkata and IUCAA Centre for Astronomy Research and Development (ICARD), Kolkata, and sponsored by The Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune, the conference attracted experts from astronomy and data science to discuss the latest advancements in the field. Dr Saumya Dasgupta, Deputy Director of Amity Institute of Applied Sciences, delivered the welcome address, followed by the inaugural speech by Professor Asis Kumar Chattopadhyay, Head of ICARD. Professor Shyamaprasad Mukherjee presented the keynote session, which included a discussion by Professor Sanjeev Dhurandhar on gravitational wave astronomy. The Tanuka Chattopadhyay Memorial Session, chaired by Professor Bikash Kumar Sinha, focused on astro-statistics, with talks by Professor Didier Fraix-Burnet and Professor Chattopadhyay. The post-lunch session, chaired by Professor Mehedi Kalam, included discussion on solar astrophysics by Professor Dibyendu Nandi and engaging poster presentations.
