Understanding and Overcoming Learning Disability

 

The Amity Institute of Behavioural Health and Allied Sciences organized a virtual guest lecture on “Understanding and overcoming Learning Disability” on 20th May 2021. The guest speaker of the event was Ms. Afshan Jabeen, Founder Director of Ripples, Centre of Advanced Learning Hyderabad.

The event was started by Dr Anindita Majumdar with seeking the blessings of Hon’ble Founder President Dr Ashok K Chauhan, Hon’ble Chancellor, Dr Atul Chauhan, Hon’ble Sr. VP, Sri U Ramachandran, Hon’ble VP, Sri Vipin Sharma, Hon’ble VC, Dr Sanjay Kumar and Respected Pro VC, Dr Ankita Chakraborty Bhattacharya.

 

Dr Susmita Halder introduced the guest speaker and moderated the event attended by more than 300 students, research scholars and faculty and received positive feedback.

The guest speaker described in detail about the characteristics of Specific Learning disability, its cause and its management.

She elaborated in detail about how children with learning disability find it difficult to read, write and subsequent difficulties in effective expression. She gave practical examples engaging the students in live demonstration, how simple language limitations could be a big barrier for children with learning disability. She also gave some real examples and clarified on certain misconceptions which lead to faulty diagnosis of learning disability. She also spoke about the provisions available for children with learning disability by the national school boards and the government.

The session was followed by enthusiastic Q & A session at the end.

The guest expressed his gratitude for inviting him for the session.


  The event was concluded with vote of            thanks proposed by head of the Institute,     Dr Akash Kr Mahato.
