National Conference on "cardiovascular diseases: Prevention, Management, and Treatment"

The Honourable Pro Chancellor addressing the delegates during the Inaugural session of the Conference.

Amity Institute of Pharmacy, Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior, organized a National Conference on "cardiovascular diseases: Prevention, Management, and Treatment" on the 9th and 10th of April 2024. This gathering aimed to tackle the challenges, advancements, and best practices in combating CVDs, which persist as a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Through collaborative discussions, presentations, and workshops, participants shared knowledge, insights, and strategies to bolster cardiovascular health outcomes and alleviate the burden of CVDs.

Distinguished experts from esteemed academic institutions and hospitals were invited to address the audience during the conference. They delved into discussions on the burden of cardiovascular diseases, their risk factors, measures to improve cardiac health behaviors, and various approaches for management and treatment.

The meticulous planning and execution of the conference were spearheaded by Prof. (Dr.) S. Mohana Lakshmi (Convenor) and Dr. Naveen Sharma (Organizing Secretary). The faculty of Amity Institute of Pharmacy, AUMP, actively participated and diligently fulfilled all responsibilities assigned, contributing to the success of the conference.

The event aimed to cover various aspects of cardiovascular health. Attendees learned about how the heart and blood vessels work, common diseases like heart attacks and strokes, and what are the factors contributing to these problems in Indian scenario. They also explored ways to prevent and treat these diseases, including rehabilitation for those who had experienced heart ailments. Discussions revolved around medications and treatments, as well as how to improve healthcare systems and policies related to heart health in India. The event provided a platform for sharing experiences and research on heart health, including CPR techniques.

Deliberations emphasized lifestyle modifications, including adherence to a nutritious diet, regular physical activity, cessation of smoking, and proficient stress management techniques. This holistic approach resonated with attendees, fostering a deeper understanding of the pivotal role lifestyle choices play in cardiovascular health.

Furthermore, the conference spotlighted the significance of early detection and screening for cardiovascular risk factors such as hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes, and obesity. Timely identification not only permits proactive interventions but also serves as a cornerstone in thwarting disease progression.

The release of conference proceedings, accompanied by a newsletter from the Amity Institute of Pharmacy AUMP, served as a testament to the scholarly contributions made during the event. With 57 abstracts in the poster category, 13 abstracts for oral presentations, and 22 full-length articles, the research publications, citations, and ranking of AUMP were notably enriched.

Moving forward, the envisioned initiatives, including a Public Awareness Campaign on Cardiovascular Health, a Continued Professional Development Program, and the implementation of a National Cardiovascular Screening Program with CPR, epitomize the commitment of the institution towards advancing cardiovascular health on a national scale. These endeavors, coupled with strategic collaborations and outreach efforts, underscore AUMP's dedication to fostering excellence in cardiovascular care and research.

Furthermore, the integration of eminent speakers into academic and research initiatives, including mentorship roles in scholarly pursuits, collaboration on research projects, and participation in institutional committees, augments the academic prowess and global outreach of AUMP. Through student exchange programs with esteemed institutions and hospitals such as Apollo Hospital, New Delhi, and AIIMS Bhopal, AUMP is poised to foster international collaborations and facilitate experiential learning opportunities for its students.

In the broader context, the extensive media coverage garnered by the event, including features in prominent newspapers such as Nav Bharat, Nai Duniya, Patrika, and Swadesh, underscores AUMP's burgeoning reputation as a leader in cardiovascular research and education. This heightened visibility is poised to bolster the institution's brand equity and attract a diverse cohort of students and researchers in the forthcoming academic sessions.
