MOOT COURT :

The Amity Law School II, AUUP has set up state-of-art moot court on ground floor in which students take part in simulated court proceedings, usually to include drafting briefs and participating in oral argument. Moot court has been facilitating continuous training to the students to participate in Moot Court competitions organized by various universities and law schools in the country besides hosting a number of moot court competitions at campus, to test the mettle of the future lawyers of the country. The students are provided with exposure of basic etiquettes as a part of their curriculum in moot court to help them to inculcate lawyering qualities. The moot court is focused solely on the application of the law to a common set of evidentiary assumptions to which the competitors must be introduced.

3rd INTERNATIONAL MOOT COURT COMPETITION, 2015
on
ENVIRONMENTAL LAW
(12th – 14th March, 2015)

This year again, in the spirit of academia, Amity Law School, Centre-II organized 3rd International Moot Court Competition (from 12th – 14th March, 2015). The said moot court problem was based on International Environmental Law. In this competition, 31 teams across India and Bangaldesh (Premier University, Chittagong, Bangladesh) registered and out of 31 teams, 27 teams (each team consisting of 3 members) have participated. This year's moot proposition addresses contemporary legal international environmental issues surrounding environmental pollution and hazards and corresponding responsibility of the subjects. The issues before the court are pertaining to the violation of International Human Rights Law, International Environment Law and International Criminal Law.

The competition saw the spirited participation of over 27 teams from the most sought after law colleges across the country, included Gujarat National Law University, Gandhhinagar, Gujarat; Symbiosis Law College, Pune; NUALS, Kerala; NMIMS School of Law, Mumbai; School of Law, Auro University, Surat, Gujarat; Tamil Nadu NLS, Trichilapalli; ALS, Lucknow; Delhi Metropolitan Education, Gr. Noida; Faculty of Law, ICFAI University, Dehradun; ALS, Jaipur; AIALS, Amity University, Noida; Bihar Institute of Law, Patna; IME Law College, Ghaziabad; Symbiosis International University, Hyderabad; JSS School of Law, Mysore; Faculty of Law, Jamia Milla Islamia, New Delhi; NLU, Odisha; School of Law, Glocal University, Shaharanpur, U.P.; WB NUJS, Kolkatta; Govt Law College, Mumbai; Rajiv Gandhi School of IPR Law, IIT Kharagpur; Institute of Law, Nirma University, Ahemdabad, Gujarat; ALS, Centre-I, Noida; Symbiosis Law School, Noida; School of Excellence in Law, Chennai; UPES, Dehradun; Institute of Management Studies, Dehradun.

All the 27 teams locked horns with one another to qualify for the Quarter finals and the 8 Quarter finalist teams competed further to make it to the semi finals. The 4 semi finalist teams rubbed their shoulders against one another to make it to the finals and 2 finalists battled hard for to be the winner. Battling the sharp competition, National Law University, Odisha won the competition and Gujarat National Law University was declared runner-up. The winner was awarded prize worth Rs. 1,67,500 and runner up was awarded prize worth Rs. 1,62,500.

In total, prizes worth Rs. 6 lacs approx. were awarded in all categories, sponsored by SAIL, SCC Online, Manupatra, Lawoctopus, LexisNexis, Vivek Aggarwal Associates and Law Firm, BS Buildtech, Jaydev Infratech, Whirlpool, Yes Bank, Mahan Roller Flour Mill, Eshann Logistics and Shoes on Loose.
