Report on MASTERCLASS organized by Amity School of Fashion Technology, Amity University, Noida for students on the topic “Fashion job profiles and Polimoda’s mission and philosophy”

A session on " Fashion job profiles and Polimoda’s mission and philosophy” was organized by the Amity School of Fashion Technology, under the Faculty of Applied Arts, Fine Arts, and Performing Arts at Amity University on October 23, 2024, at 11 am. This event, held in hybrid mode, was part of an internationalization initiative organized by Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Joshi, the Group Additional Pro Vice Chancellor, Director General, and Dean of Applied Arts, Fine Arts, Performing Arts, and Visual Arts at Amity University Uttar Pradesh (AUUP).

The invited speakers for this session were Prof. Massimiliano Giornetti , Director POLIMODA and Ms Camilla Fabiani , Marketing & Business Developer, POLIMODA.  Both speakers shared valuable insights into Italian fashion industry, eminent designers & Brands who have given a new direction to fashion and Textile Industry

He started his presentation by elaborating on career options available for Fashion & textiles graduates in Europe.
He then shared presented a lot of Portfolios developed by graduates in Europe and then gave his valuable insights into portfolio development, types of portfolios and how to integrate different Boards in a single Board

Dr. Patsy Perry, Reader in Fashion Marketing ,Manchester Fashion Institute, Manchester Metropolitan University, U.K elaborating on Global fashion supply Chain

Dr Patsy Perry is a Reader in Fashion Marketing at Manchester Fashion Institute. Her PhD was about Corporate Social Responsibility in fashion supply chains, with fieldwork conducted in Sri Lanka’s garment manufacturing industry. She has published her research on fashion and luxury sustainability, supply chains and marketing in academic journals, textbooks and teaching cases. She has supervised several MPhil and PhD students to successful completion on topics relating to fashion consumer behaviour, retailing, supply chain management, and sustainability. She is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Fashion Marketing and Management, and often featured in the media for her expertise on fashion sustainability and has made numerous and regular broadcast, online and print media appearances nationally and internationally

Dr Zhe Wang is a Senior Lecturer in Fashion Art Direction and teaches on the MSc Luxury Fashion Management at Manchester Fashion Institute. Her PhD was about reshaping innovations in fashion shows with a focus on emerging Chinese designers. She has expertise in the ethnographies of global fashion culture, fashion communication and international brand management, digital fashion culture, fashion theatre and performance, design anthropology, innovation design, the global fashion cities, creative labour, and creative cultural industry. Aisling Griffin is a Senior Lecturer in Luxury Management and teaches on the MSc Luxury Fashion Management at Manchester Fashion Institute. Prior to joining higher education, she built an international career in premium and luxury fashion, specializing in supplier architecture, global sourcing, production management and product development. She has worked with small luxury brands to launch new categories as well as large businesses such as Ted Baker and Liberty.

A high-powered delegation from Italian Embassy & Venice International University comprising of HE Ambassador Umberto Vattani, Ms Isabella Farrocco Vattani, Prof Achille Bonito Oliva, Prof. Sergio Ledda, Dr. Annalisa Zezza, Mr. Davide Colombo & Ms. Seema Charu visited Amity School of Fashion Technology (ASFT), Amity University, Noida on Wednesday the 24th May, 2023 to discuss about areas of association and academic tie ups.

HE Ambassador Umberto Vattani, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and GAPVC, Amity University spoke about their institutions and discussed the mentioned points.

Prof. Achille Bonito Oliva expressed his views regarding the new innovations and ideas that can be introduced in Fine Arts institutions and how these changes made in his country have brought up a revolution in the field of Art, Culture and Designing.

At 2 pm on 14th September 2023, Amity School of Fashion Technology, Amity University, Noida organized a Masterclass on the topic of “SUSTAINABILITY IN FASHION.” This took place in Room Number-316 of K-1 Block on a hybrid mode and was conducted by Professor Niccolò Sbaraglia of Polimoda Fashion Institute, Florence, Italy. The same was attended by the final year students of B. Design (Fashion Design), B. Design (Fashion Design-3 Continents) and B. Design (Textile Design). The event also witnessed the presence of Ms. Camilla Fabiani, Marketing & Business Developer, Polimoda Fashion Institute, Florence, Italy who joined the session online with Prof. Niccolo.

This Masterclass was attended by approximately 60 students and faculty members and commenced with the Opening Remarks by Professor (Dr.) Pradeep Joshi, Group Additional Pro Vice Chancellor Director General & Dean (Faculty of Applied Arts/ Fine Arts/ Performing Arts/ Visual Arts). He briefed the invited delegates about the Academic Programmes and activities of ASFT and the importance attached to Internationalization by Amity University. He shared with the students the significance of international exposure in today’s dynamic world.

After this, Professor Niccolò Sbaraglia spoke at length on the topic of “SUSTAINABILITY IN FASHION. He covered the areas of Sustainable Marketing, Sustainable Communication, Importance of Product Knowledge, Consumer Behaviour and Demand & Supply of Sustainable Products. He took examples from his own wide experience of being a Production Manager in luxury accessories, specializing in Product Communication, being a Trend Forecaster-Leather Jackets for LGM KERING group and last but not the least, running his own two companies in New York City, viz. T-project showroom and PLUMA- ITALIA. Moreover, his accepting the role of Professor for teaching the subject “Craft to Business” at Polimoda Fashion Institute gave him the distinct advantage of a rare mix of Industry and Academics.

All the UG students participated enthusiastically.

At 2 pm on 31st August 2023, Amity School of Fashion Technology, Amity University, Noida organized a Masterclass on the topic of THE SECRET OF ITALIAN LUXURY.” This took place in Room Number-316 of K-1 Block on a hybrid mode and was conducted by Professor Niccolò Sbaraglia of Polimoda Fashion Institute, Florence, Italy. The same was attended by the I and III semester students of MA (Fashion Retail Management), MBA (Fashion Management), MA (Fashion & Textile Merchandising) & M. Design (Fashion & Textiles). He shared with the students his experience of visiting Polimoda Fashion Institute and the significance of international exposure in today’s dynamic world. He also briefed the invited delegates about the Academic Programmes and activities of ASFT and the importance attached to Internationalization by Amity University.

After this, Professor Niccolò Sbaraglia spoke at length on the topic of The Secret of Italian Luxury.
