SDG Policy Development

Amity University Haryana’s Role in SDG Policy Development

Amity University Haryana (AUH) actively contributes to the development and implementation of national and regional SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) policies through direct involvement and collaborations with various governmental and non-governmental organizations.

Key Contributions:

  1. Unnat Bharat Abhiyan:
AUH participates in the Government of India’s Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, an initiative aimed at addressing rural challenges through sustainable development strategies. The university engages with local villages to identify problems, propose interventions, and implement sustainable solutions such as clean energy systems, improved water management, and educational programs for rural development.
  2. Collaboration with IMD (India Meteorological Department):
Through its partnership with the India Meteorological Department, AUH contributes to climate resilience and disaster preparedness. The collaboration involves research on climate modeling, forecasting weather impacts, and developing strategies to mitigate climate-related risks in line with SDG 13 (Climate Action). https://www.amity.edu/gurugram/events/14596/amity-university-haryana-signs-mou-with-india-meteorological-department-for-cutting-edge-research
  3. Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Initiatives:
AUH runs skill development programs aligned with the Ministry of Education’s Startup India Initiative and the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship Policy (IIEP). These programs are designed to enhance employability and foster entrepreneurship among students and local communities. By promoting green entrepreneurship and sustainable business models, the university directly supports SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).
  4. Policy Modeling and Monitoring:
    • The university collaborates with governmental and non-governmental bodies to conduct research that informs policy modeling and forecasting.
    • AUH’s faculty and students are engaged in projects that evaluate the impact of existing policies and propose adaptive strategies for improved outcomes.
    • Regular monitoring and reporting of interventions ensure that the measures align with sustainable development objectives.
  5. Regional Biodiversity and Ecosystem Conservation:
Located in the ecologically significant Aravalli Hills, AUH plays a crucial role in biodiversity preservation. Its sustainable campus design and initiatives to protect native flora and fauna offer a replicable model for policy makers interested in integrating conservation with development.
