Menstrual hygiene is a hygienic practice during menstruation which can prevent women from the infection in reproductive and urinary tract. In India, menstruation is surrounded by myths and misconceptions with a long list of “do’s” and “don’ts” for women. Menstruation and menstrual practices are still clouded by taboos and socio – cultural restrictions resulting in adolescent girls lacking knowledge and remaining ignorant of the scientific facts and hygienic health practices, which sometimes results into adverse health outcomes.

The students along with the faculty members of ASCO decided to take this issue as a subject and contribute their best to eradicate the myths around the topic, and aware the uneducated group of the society towards the importance of good menstrual hygiene.

On the occasion on International Women's Day, the students of Amity School of Communication, Amity University Patna, took an initiative to educate the women residing in the slum area behind Haj Bhawan, Patna, Bihar, about the importance and need of good practices of personal and menstrual hygiene.

As a part of this CSR activity, the women were also educated about the importance of education and the role that educated women can play. The women were motivated by the students to send their children to school as a compulsion.

Respected Pro Vice Chancellor Sir, and the faculty members of Amity School of Communication were present during this activity. The students spent around an hour educating the women.

At the end, sanitary napkins were distributed to the women and young girls present. The children present were given biscuits and orange drink.
