Dr. M. A. Khalid
Deputy Director & Associate Professor

Dr. Khalid, a Doctorate in Zoology (AMU, Aligarh) and PG Diploma in Remote Sensing (IIRS, Dehradun), is an ecologist with 17 years of experience as wildlife biologist (WII, Dehradun), Protected Area Ecologist (World Bank’s IEDP-GEF Project in West Bengal) and Biodiversity expert (TERI). At TERI he was member of NATCOM project for forestry component, member of Gangetic Plains eco-working group in National Biodiversity Strategy & Action Plan & member of Academic Council, TERI University for 2004-05. In AIGWES he is heading a project on Effects of climate change on Man- elephant conflict in mining effected areas of Orissa.

Debojyoti Chakraborty

Lecturer

He is masters in Environment Management from Forest Research Institute University, Dehradun, India. He has been associated with many prestigious research projects like “Beyond Kyoto: EU- India CDM Partnership’, ICFRE. He has, to his credit several publications in reputed journals and magazines. His interests include Global Climate Change, Biodiversity and Wildlife Conservation. In AIGWES he has been involved in developing a small scale CDM AR project in Haryana which is in the final stage of registration with the CDM EB. Besides that he is involved in the various training projects on carbon forestry projects in India as a core faculty.

Gulshan Bhardwaj
Secretary to Director

Mr. Gulshan has worked with Human Rights Law Network New Delhi, an NGO working in the field of Human Rights and for the development of the underprivileged people. He has coordinated a number of training programmes for corporate and non-corporate houses on various issues on human rights. He has also worked with India Law Services, New Delhi, as a Personal Assistant to the Senior Director. He coordinates all teaching, training, consultancies in IGWES and is also working on socio-economic impact on climate change on urban settlements. Further, he is also partly responsible for the maintenance of the IGWES’s website.

Ashwin A.S.
Research Associate

He did his Master’s in Forest Economics & Management from Forest Research Institute, Dehradun. He is a part of AIGWES since a year. He has been one of the main authors in the CDM PDD of the Haryana CDM Project on Shifting Sand Dunes. He has also carried out a training programme for IFS officers in Orissa as a part of the DFID project. His Subjects of interest are Climate change, Joint Forest Management and Forest Economics.

Kundan K. Burnwal
Research Associate

His professional qualification is Master’s in Environment Management from Forest Research Institute, Dehradun. He was involved in many national and international projects related to EIA in National Environmental Engineering and Research Institute, Nagpur, India. He has been working in Amity Institute of Global Warming and Ecological Studies (AIGWES) as a research associate since five months. Here he was one of the two resource persons who trained farmers and NGOs on CDM and its opportunities in Orissa. He also worked on the DFID project in Orissa on Adaptation and Mitigation. He was actively involved in post-validation CDM PDD corrections as desired by the DOE. His subjects of interest are Climate Change, Environmental Impact Assessment and Remote Sensing & GIS
