Summer Internships

Summer internships constitute an integral part of the AITTM curriculum and are valued for their relevance in Management Education. Summer Internship is positioned between the first and second year of the AITTM program. After completing the first year course work, the students are placed in different organizations for a period of two months on a specific assignment.

Apart from giving the students an opportunity to test out the theoretical concepts learnt in the classroom, the summer experience gives an insight into the working of the real organizations. This also helps students explore career opportunities in their areas of interest and appreciate the inter-linkages among different functions and develop a realistic managerial perspective about the organizations.

The Industry Interaction Cell (IIC) locates suitable projects in different organizations. The students have to accept the first offer he/she gets. As a part of the assignment, students are required to submit a report. The presentation made by the student to the organization forms the basis for the evaluation of the project work.

Mr. Biswaroop  Goswami shared with the students that young professionals play a vital role in any organization as they bring with them new thoughts, speed of action, creative problem solving and are essentially quick learners. Ms. Reena Ahuja discussed how self-discipline and punctuality were two very important traits for young professionals during their formative years in an organization. They find lack of close supervisions in corporate culture as the stark difference as compared to the academic atmosphere they come from. She also advised students to separate people form the situations. Mr. Jaidev Jolly stressed on the importance of learning how to develop ‘use cases’ and ‘business cases’ to present new innovative ideas in the organization. He also advised students to be prepared to handle setbacks in the initial phase of professional life as it is an integral part of the learning process. He also advised the students to  identify their personality types, behavioral skills using simple psychological tools to identify their strengths and areas of improvement. One common point all three speakers stress on was the importance of having the right attitude during academic and professional life as people are hired more for the right attitude than knowledge or skill as the latter two can be honed through training.
