Director’s Profile

Prof. Prakash is a sociologist. Prior to joining Amity University she served as Professor of Sociology, Head, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences and Coordinator, Centre for Women Studies at Jaypee University of Information Technology, Waknaghat, Solan, Himachal Pradesh. Earlier she served BITS, Pilani as Chief, Women Studies and Societal Development Unit, Founder Director, UGC Centre for Women Studies, Head, Department of Humanistic Studies and Coordinator, M.Phil program in Hospital and Health Systems Management.

Prof. Prakash has taught at the Department of Sociology and Centre for International Health, George Washington University, Washington D.C., Department of Global Gender Studies, University at Buffalo, and at University of Maryland at College Park, USA.

She has undertaken post-doctoral work in medical sociology at Hartshill Medical Institute, Stoke-On-Trent, U.K.

She has been invited as a scholar, consultant, guest speaker and visiting faculty at many international forums.

She has been teaching in the field of sociology, gender studies, health systems, conflict management and is an active researcher in social science.

She is currently working on projects sponsored by national and international agencies. She has many research papers/chapters published in national and international journals/books.
