Amity University is a private university in India. Established by the non-profit Ritnand Balved Education Foundation in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh; it has campuses in Noida, Lucknow, Gurgaon, Jaipur, Gwalior and Dubai.

Amity University was founded by Dr.Ashok Chauhan, the founder of the Ritnand Balved Education Foundation. Amity was India's first private university slated to implement reservations for both faculty as well as students. The school started with an enrollment of 120 students. In 2011, it had 80,000 students in 240 programs. Amity is the leading education group of India with over 1,00,000 students studying across 1000 acres of hi-tech campus.

Bachelor of Occupational Therapy is a four and half year undergraduate level program designed with an aim to provide Bachelor level education in the area of Occupational Therapy. The objective of the programme is to provide industry, with Occupational Therapist, skilled with a high level in- depth knowledge and expertise in a wide range of currently relevant topics in the field of health care.

Amity Institute of Occupational Therapy is committed to provide students with most advanced training in order to gain a comprehensive knowledge on evaluation, intervention techniques, consultation and education of individuals whose abilities to participate and cope with the tasks of daily living are threatened or impaired due to physical impairment, psychosocial disability or neurological and cognitive impairment or disability. This would further develop opportunities for attaining education at post- graduate and doctoral level.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy is a client-centred health profession concerned with promoting health and well being through occupation. The primary goal of occupational therapy is to enable people to participate in the activities of everyday life. Occupational therapists achieve this outcome by working with people and communities to enhance their ability to engage in the occupations they want to, need to, or are expected to do, or by modifying the occupation or the environment to better support their occupational engagement. 

Occupational Therapy practice:

The practice of occupational therapy means the therapeutic use of occupations, including everyday life activities with individuals, groups, populations, or organizations to support participation, performance, and function in roles and situations in home, school, workplace, community, and other settings. Occupational therapy services are provided for habilitation, rehabilitation, and the promotion of health and wellness to those who have or are at risk for developing an illness, injury, disease, disorder, condition, impairment, disability, activity limitation, or participation restriction. Occupational therapy addresses the physical, cognitive, psychosocial, sensory-perceptual, and other aspects of performance in a variety of contexts and environments to support engagement in occupations that affect physical and mental health, well-being, and quality of life.
