"Architecture is an expression of values and as an architect you design for the present with an awareness of the past and for a future which is essentially unknown”, Ar. Norman Foster

Amity School of Architecture and Planning, Lucknow (ASAPL) is and has always been following ethical values and effective teaching methodology since its inception.

As an architecture graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (IITR), with more than three and a half decades of experience in academia and specialising in socio-architectural aspects and environmental concerns for the built environment, it has been my experience that there is a need to shift the focus of architectural education from an aesthetic and visual appreciation perspective to serious concerns about environmental sustainability. The changing paradigm of human existence and its functions under the influence of massive globalisation and urban development explosion requires architecture education that is in synchronisation with the entire range of societal requirements. Innovative yet acceptable solutions that increasingly inform the instruction of architects are inevitable now.

As academicians at ASAPL, we are focused and determined to groom and train better human beings and capable professionals with a strong core of values and ethics. The ASAPL offers a student-centric learning environment supported by world-class infrastructure provisions that further enhance the overall learning and teaching environment of the institution in architecture and planning. Our alumni, under the mentorship of expert faculty members, have created a niche in their respective professional arenas and bring pride to their alma mater.

I hope and wish to maintain the core of design education through a human-centric approach, as well as train responsible future architects and professionals who are ready to adapt to changing perspectives and soak in the cultural values of human existence.
