Free Health Check- up Camp organized during International Women’s Day at Amity
Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida Campus celebrated International Women’s Day 2025 on the theme “Accelerate Action.” As part of the celebrations, Girl Up Gauravi in collaboration with Prima Care Clear Medi Multispecialty Hospital, Noida, organized a ‘Free Health Checkup Camp for Girls and Women’, with the aim to identify health problems at an early stage to prevent further complications and educate women about various health issues. Girl up Gauravi was founded by the United Nations Foundation (UN) in 2010 as an initiative for the upliftment of adolescent girls. Over 200 students and faculty of Amity got their health check-ups done at the camp.
On this occasion Dr. Manisha Saxena, Gynaecologist, Prima Care Clear Medi Multispecialty Hospital, provided information about PCOD, breast cancer, cervical cancer, anaemia, pregnancy and other relevant women’s health issues, their causes, symptoms, and prevention methods. Psychologist Dr. Aastha Raina addressed the women regarding the importance of mental health. Physiotherapist Dr. Sudiksha Dutta, deliberated upon muscular and body pain in women and its treatment and Nutritionist Dr. Aakriti Chaudhary shared useful information regarding balanced and nutritional diet for women.
In addition, an event on the theme, "For All Women and Girls: Rights, Equality and Empowerment”, was also organized by Amity Law School.
Addressing the gathering on this occasion, Chief Guest, Shri Vijendra Gupta Ji, Hon’ble Speaker, Delhi Vidhan Sabha, stated, “Women’s Day is a day to celebrate the achievements of women and pay tribute to them for their unconditional support, nurturing and caring attitude and their unbelievable strength and resilience to face every situation courageously. Women have achieved remarkable success in every field including sports, politics, science, medical, technology, defence and all other sectors. Every day should be celebrated as Women’s Day since we can see their contribution in our day to day lives and it is our collective responsibility to ensure women’s safety and security so that they can live their lives with respect and dignity.”
Smt. Locket Chatterjee, Former MP Lok Sabha, averred, “Women’s Day a movement toward recognizing, celebrating, and empowering women and girls to break barriers and achieve their fullest potential. Women have been the architects of change in the society. Even during the Chandrayaan mission, we have seen the Space Scientists team comprising of highly accomplished women scientists. We are seeing more women participation in leadership roles as CEOs, heads and chiefs in various fields including politics. The need of the hour is to provide equal opportunities to women in every field by creating unlimited opportunities for them and providing them a safe and secure environment.”
Ms. Pria Warrick, Chairperson & Executive Director, Pria Warrick Finishing Academy, said, “Although the society has changed its mindset towards women, still there is need to treat them well and acknowledge their efforts in every field. Women are creators and nurturers. In a world where true gender parity is projected to take over a century at the current pace, this theme underscores the importance of collective and urgent efforts to dismantle systemic barriers, foster inclusivity, and empower women to reach their fullest potential.”
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor Amity University Uttar Pradesh stated, “International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8, is a global occasion, acknowledging the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women while calling for urgent action to address the barriers they continue to face. The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day serves as a powerful reminder of the need to move swiftly and decisively toward achieving gender equality.”
During the Week-long celebrations, various events on topics such as "Women in Diplomacy”, “Empowering women over health concern”, “Women in Science: Is it a level playing field”, “Women’s Creative Arts & Designing”, “She Innovates: Women Leaders in AI and Science” and many others will be organized by various domains such as Engineering & Technology, Biotechnology, Visual Arts, Health and Allied Sciences amongst others.
