Amity University celebrates “Uttar Pradesh Day” and National Voter’s Day”
Amity University Uttar Pradesh Noida Campus celebrated ‘Uttar Pradesh Day’ on the theme, “Sankalp se Siddhi”, and also “National Voter’s Day”. The main objective of the event was to celebrate the state's rich history, culture and modern progress of Uttar Pradesh and encourage the youth to participate in the electoral process exercising their right to vote.
On this occasion, a ‘Road Show’ was also organized at Amity University Campus to spread awareness about Uttar Pradesh Day, amongst the students, faculty and staff of Amity. The Road Show was flagged off by Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor Amity University Uttar Pradesh.
Addressing the students, Shri Ram Badan Singh, DIG (DCP Noida), stated, “It is the duty of the state to ensure peace, security and harmony for people and the Police plays a very important role in ensuring peace and security. Every person must caste their vote so that they can choose the candidates who will work for the development of their state. The Police of Uttar Pradesh is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that the people feel safe and secure in their state.”
He also shared information about the various Helplines which have been introduced by Uttar Pradesh Police such as Helpline No. 112, 198 and1076, with the students.
Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, said, “Uttar Pradesh was given its current name in the 1950, when its name was changed from United Provinces to Uttar Pradesh. The state is known for its rich culture, diversity, tradition, art, literature and creativity. It is the second largest state economy of the country today and research and innovation has seen immense growth in the last few years. We, at Amity, are proud to be residents of Uttar Pradesh and we must think about how we can contribute to the growth of our state, thereby contributing to the growth of our nation.”
Welcoming the guests, Dr. Sanjeev Bansal, Additional Pro Vice Chancellor Amity University Uttar Pradesh said, “Uttar Pradesh has a strong cultural heritage, and it is the most populous state of India. Uttar Pradesh has shown remarkable economic progress in the last few years and it is making its mark on the world map by organizing mega events such as “Maha Kumbh”, visited by almost 40 crore people.”
Mr Ayanjit Sen, Senior Journalist, opined, “Uttar Pradesh welcomes people from all parts of the country and makes them feel at home. It is the culture of Uttar Pradesh to help others, and the people of Uttar Pradesh are extremely warm and hospitable. The state has witnessed huge growth in the last 25 years. Uttar Pradesh has not only become an economic hub with a large number of industries, but the law-and-order situation has also improved significantly in the state.” He urged the students of Amity to respect their state and work towards making it the most developed state.
On this occasion students took a pledge for casting their vote during the elections. The Programme concluded with a Prize Distribution Ceremony and Felicitation of guests.
