Amity University in collaboration with International Bar Association Young Lawyers Committee organizes a Training Programme

Amity Law School in collaboration with International Bar Association Young Lawyers Committee organized a one-day Training Programme on "Fundamentals of International Legal Business Practice", for legal professionals and students.

 

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest, Mr. R Venkatramani Attorney General for India, New Delhi, stated, “The Training Programme organised by Amity Law School and IBA Young Lawyer Committee will assist the young professionals to understand the fundamentals of international legal practice. Knowledge of international law is extremely important in meeting global challenges in the changing global era. He advised the students to develop s futuristic attitude since the next 25 years will witness huge global changes and perspectives in law domain. Lawyers must solve the problems of every person with their skills, attitude and knowledge, for which they must be prepared from today itself.”

 

Dr. Lalit Bhasin, Honorary Life Member, International Bar Association, averred, “In the legal profession, learning is an ongoing process which never stops. Even after so many years of being in this profession, I’m still learning every day. This is a great joint initiative of two great organizations which has grown not only in India but across the globe. He called upon the law students to never compromise on ethics and remain committed to giving back to the society, adopt new technologies but never become a slave of technology.”

 

Mr. Pranav Srivastava, Co-Vice Chair, IBA Young Lawyers’ Committee, said, “This course is part of an on-going programme devised by the IBA’s Section on Public and Professional Interest (SPPI) to assist young lawyers and junior members of the profession with their understanding of the fundamentals of international legal practice. The major goal of all YLC activities is to create a win-win situation in which young colleagues can enhance their skills while simultaneously providing the IBA and its constituents with fresh ideas to the next generation of legal experts and counsel.”

 

Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor Amity University Uttar Pradesh said, “This is the first IBA YLC training program being organized in collaboration with an Indian University. Such Programmes provide immense learning and exposure to the students. Legal profession is a highly noble profession, and the lawyers have a responsibility of giving back to the society through their profession.”

 

Welcoming the guests, Prof D. K. Bandyopadhyay, Chairman, Amity Law School said, “The training program will inter-alia cover topical issues and emerging trends in the field of Dispute Resolution as well as Mergers and Acquisitions. The event will have a galaxy of renowned experts from across the world including France, UK, UAE and Malaysia and their discourses will be highly beneficial for the young lawyers.”

 

During the Training program, Technical Session on topics such as “Hot topics and recent trends in international arbitration: an international perspective” and  “Navigating cross-border M&A: challenges, strategies and emerging trends” were also organized, wherein renowned legal professional including Mr. Shashwat Bajpai DRSB Law Chambers, New Delhi, Ms. Zeina Obeid, Co-Vice Chair, IBA Young Lawyers’ Committee, Ms. Neeti Sachdeva Registrar & Secretary General, Mumbai Centre for International Arbitration, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Ms. Tanya Chakraborty General Counsel, SAMHI Hotels, New Delhi and Ms. Manjula Chawla Phoenix Legal, New Delhi, amongst others participated. Also present on the occasion were Dr. Shefali Raizada Director Amity Law School, the faculty and students. A Souvenir was also released during the Inaugural Session of the Training Program.
