Experts deliberate upon “Artificial Intelligence, as an Impactful Science in Disruptive Innovations”, at Amity University

Amity Science Technology and Innovation Foundation (ASTIF), Amity University Uttar Pradesh (AUUP), Noida Campus organized an insightful session on “Artificial Intelligence, as an Impactful Science in Disruptive Innovations”, as part of “Pathbreaking Scientific Achievements Deliberation 2024” series.

Delivering his Talk on “Artificial Intelligence, as an Impactful Science in Disruptive Innovations”, Dr. M.K. Dutta, Director, Amity Centre for Artificial Intelligence, Amity University, said, “The newly established Amity Centre for Artificial Intelligence is equipped with the world's most powerful AI system, the NVIDIA DGX2 A100. At Amity Centre of Artificial Intelligence, innovations such as “AI-SenseVision: A Low-cost Artificial Intelligence-based Robust and Real-time Assistance for Visually Impaired People”, “DeepRespNet: A Deep Neural Network for Classification of respiratory Sounds”, “AI and Computer Vision based technique for identification of Acrylamide(Cancer Causing Toxic substance in potato)”, “Mobile EMF Radiation Effect on Brain using Computer Vision and AI”, “AI -based device for Cardiac Health Monitoring”, and many other innovations have been developed.”

Sharing his insights, Dr. PK Saxena, Former PSA Fellow, O/o PSA to GoI & Director, Systems Analysis Group (SAG), DRDO, averred, “The term Artificial Intelligence was first coined in the year 1956 and it includes a rule-based, expert computing system which determines how we arrive at the diagnosis of a problem. In Deep Learning, data is provided to the machine, and everything is data -driven, however, when developing AI solutions for healthcare, support and validation of medical professionals is crucial so that they can analyse it from a medical point of view rather than only technological.”

Highlighting the use of AI in Drone Technology, Dr. Sarita Ahlawat, Co-Founder, Managing Director, Botlab Dynamics, opined, “The use of AI in Drone Technology is highly effective and impactful. Drones using AI can automatically identify and engage targets, improve situational awareness and reduce collateral damage. AI military drones plan to execute missions independently, adapting to changing battlefield conditions in real-time, and one of the primary roles of AI in Drone Technology is autonomous flight.”

Speaking about the challenges in AI based technologies, Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Dept. of Electrical Engineering, School of Artificial Intelligence, IIT, Delhi, stated, “The biggest challenge in providing AI based solutions is that adequate data is not available or sometimes the data which is available is incorrect, which may lead to misleading processes and solutions. This happens because all major contributions in terms of the data come from various companies, which may not be uniform and vary from each other.  Therefore, we must check the data multiple times to ensure that there are no discrepancies.”

Welcoming the guests, Dr. W. Selvamurthy, President Amity Science Technology and Innovation Foundation, said, “Pathbreaking Scientific Achievements Deliberation 2024 series is the brainchild of Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President Amity Education Group, wherein experts from various filed come together and deliberate upon various topics, with the aim of exchanging knowledge and fostering critical thinking. Today, AI is being used in all areas including agriculture, healthcare, security, climate change, and there has been an explosion in AI-led initiatives, therefore today’s talk on this pertinent topic will be highly insightful for the faculty members, scientists, researchers and technocrats at Amity.”
