AMITY SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE AND PLANNING

About us

Introduction of Institution

Amity School of Architecture and Planning (ASAP), Noida, under the aegis of Amity University Uttar Pradesh (AUUP), is one of the leading universities with a strong presence Nationally and Internationally. With more than a decade of its establishment (2005), the school has built a tradition of fostering excellence in technical education in the domain of architecture and planning industry. We invite you to explore the vibrant and diverse community that is deeply focused on quality and holism. Amity adopts a student-centric model in delivering its discourse. Located in a campus unlike any other, the students here are trained unlike any other to become an independent and skilful professional. Our students emerge not only with a degree but with a wide range of trans-disciplinary experiences, ready to shape the world of tomorrow!

The mission of Amity School of Architecture and Planning is to serve the society through achieving pre-eminence in rational and sensitive thinking towards the built environment and acquiring knowledge of the state-of-the-art measures to resolve present and upcoming challenges faced by the domain industry.

The school adopts some unique strategies for the students to achieve best of the knowledge & experience in Amity, like vertical studios, collaboration with industry & academics, competition-based studio projects etc. Following are some of the institutional best practices adopted:

  • Vertical Studio: ASAP is dedicated to engendering better output & foster interaction among the students through vertical studios where students across various years’ work together in tandem to produce outstanding work. The objective of this studio was to combine skill sets of students across various years to encourage and enhance team building activities. The idea was implemented during organizing teams for study tour in 2016-17 to study cities along River Ganga. The core idea was to combine skillsets from various years into a single team and impart equivalent strength to each. The process to achieve same consisted of dividing each class into three groups and then preparing a matrix by inter-mixing. Each team had a total strength of approximately 50 students and therefore 3 faculty coordinators were allotted in order to maintain a student – teacher ratio of 17: 1. The subsequent environment created after this exercise allowed for a more realistic vision framing the thought processes and mutual respect for skills. The students were also inclined to explore many other areas apart from their academics and seek guidance and help from their senior batches, resulting in overall improvement in quality of work.
  • Collaboration with Industry and Academics: In order to expose the students to diversified practices of the industry and introduce entrepreneurship, the school organizes various conjoint guest lectures and entrepreneur workshops & conferences. The objective of this practice is to bridge the gap between academia and industry by exposure of the current & diversified practices, live projects/products & strengthening the integration of industry to academia so as to increase career options and opportunities for enhancing employability and entrepreneurship. Guest lectures were always an integral part of architecture program, but the scope was limited to a particular batch of students. Thus, one of the main feature of Industry Interaction was to widen up the scope from a lecture to a discussion/ interaction with number of experts. The evidences of success are the interactions at ARCHISPHERE’23_WORLD ARCHITECTURE DAY’2023 CONCLAVE ENVISIONING SUSTAINABLE NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION 2030 on 12th-13th April’2023
  • Competition based studio project: National/International competitions floated in the market are undertaken as a part of the course Architectural Design and the students attempt the same under the guidance of the faculty. These competitions help the students to remain connected with the industry. It helps them to be competitive with their counterparts all over the country. The objectives were to keep the students updated about the challenges of the industry and prepare them for the competitive world by understanding, how the industry is moving ahead in terms of generation of new design ideas and philosophies and by equipping themselves with new technologies and standards that are evolving on day to day basis. Transparence 2017 -National level design competition ( Child And Mother Care Hospital ) was the first project that was floated to IIIrd Year architecture students as a major architecture design studio project where around 120 students individual worked on the assigned project. The students was assessed on different criteria that includes functionality, technical aspects, presentation etc. and voluntarily submitted their studio project to 5th International Conference on Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Leadership (ICEIL 2023). Likewise students work for Cheery Hill Design Competition, International Railway station design competition ( IRSDC) in different semester. The outcome of this practice came out to be in terms of awards where 3 awards were received in 5th International Conference on Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Leadership (ICEIL 2023) which includes best studio project, best jury recommendation & special mention category. As in for Cherry hill Design, the students received popular choice award and critics choice award.

Amity University is committed to provide a campus environment that supports a healthy mind, body and spirit for all members in the community. The campus is full of prospects for all students to get involved, have fun and make a difference.
