Fire Safety Training and Awareness Session at Amity University, Mohali

- Description: Amity School of Architecture and Planning, in collaboration with Fire Awareness & Safety Association (FASA), organized a comprehensive fire safety training session for students. The event was aimed at equipping participants with essential knowledge and practical skills to handle fire emergencies effectively. The training was conducted by fire safety expert Mr. Jaswinder Suri, a marine engineer with extensive experience as a Chief Engineer and Marine Training Officer. He demonstrated various fire-fighting techniques, safe evacuation protocols, and the use of essential fire safety tools. Key resource persons Mr. Surinder Singh Bagha led the session, offering practical demonstrations and real-life insights into fire safety protocols. The training also included inputs on fire marshal roles, safety officer duties, crew resource management, and leadership during crisis situations. Emphasis was placed on youth readiness and their crucial role in community safety and disaster response. The program was well-received by students and staff alike for its informative and engaging approach.
Celebrating Earth Day 2025

The event was celebrated in collaboration with Amity School of Earth and Environmental Sciences (ASEES). The symposium aimed to highlight the crucial balance between technological advancement and environmental conservation, bringing together thought leaders from diverse fields to share their insights. The symposium offered valuable learning opportunities for architecture students by exposing them to interdisciplinary innovations shaping sustainable design.

World Heritage Day Celebration at Amity University, Punjab

Description: The event was organized in alignment with the ICOMOS theme for this year — “Disaster and Conflict Resilient Heritage: Preparedness and Learning from 60 Years of ICOMOS Actions.”
Amity University had the honour of hosting Dr. Balvinder Singh, Former Head, Department of Architecture, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar — a distinguished expert in heritage conservation with wide experience of 35 years.
Dr. Singh delivered an enlightening lecture on “Heritage Conservation in Punjab: Retrospection and Future Vision,” highlighting key restoration projects undertaken across Punjab and Pakistan. His extensive experience, including the restoration of the Samadhi of Akali Phoola Singh Ji, provided students with valuable insights into practical conservation efforts and cross-border collaborations.
The interactive session witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who discussed various scenarios and challenges related to heritage conservation in Punjab.
Students from all batches of the architecture and Interior design program got engaged actively with the speaker discussing challenges in heritage preservation across the region. Students actively interacted with Dr. Singh, raising pertinent questions about real-world conservation challenges in Punjab. The session inspired the entire academic community to reflect on the critical role of architects in safeguarding heritage.
Topic: Pedagogy in Architecture: A Roadmap to Experiential and Sustainable Design

The session was delivered by Ar. Chandrika Vardhan Jaggia, a registered architect (RA, NCARB, LEED @ AP) and former Lecturer at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly), USA. Ar. Chandrika Vardhan Jaggia shared her global academic and professional experiences to discuss evolving teaching methodologies in architectural education. The lecture emphasized the importance of experiential learning, studio-based inquiry, and context-driven sustainable design thinking. She advocated for a pedagogy that moves beyond theoretical frameworks into real-world applications, preparing students to become environmentally responsible and socially responsive designers.
The session offered architecture students a forward-looking perspective on their education, inspiring them to view sustainability not just as a concept but as a way of practice. It encouraged critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and reinforced the value of hands-on learning and reflective design processes.
Topic: Orbis: Escalators and Elevators & Capacity Building Programme on Fire Safety in Highrise Buildings
Amity School of Architecture and Planning, Amity University Punjab, hosted a distinguished Guest Lecture in partnership with "ORBIS - Escalators and Elevators". The General Manager Mr. Shailesh Shrivastava demonstrated the planning and technologies of "Elevators, Escalators and Travellators" as a vertical means of circulation in the Architecture.
The session was highly interactive, featuring the active participation from both students and faculty, who were engaged in insightful discussions and posed questions regarding Elevators, Escalators, and Travellators.
