National Pharmacovigilance Week 2024

National Pharmacovigilance Week (NPvW) is an awareness campaign organized annually in India to promote the safe use of medicines. It is spearheaded by the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI), under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, in collaboration with the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC). The goal is to enhance the reporting and monitoring of adverse drug reactions (ADRs) to ensure patient safety. Considering this AIP under the aegis of AUUP-L observed the 4th NPvW-2024 from 17th to 23rd September 2024 with the theme ‘Building ADR reporting culture for patient safety’.

In this regard the inaugural ceremony of this one weeklong event was conducted at the on 17.9.24.  One day Symposium on the theme “Building ADR Reporting Culture for Patient Safety” was conducted on 17.9.2024. This ceremony beholden two brainstorming talks based on the theme by two eminent experts from Pharmacovigilance Sector. One of the experts was our honourable Chief Guest, Dr Atul Jain Prof. & HOD of Pharmacology, Dr. RMLIMS, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India and the other was his fellow companion Mr. Anoop Kumar, Senior Pharmacovigilance Associate AMC, Department of Pharmacology, Dr. RMLIMS, Lucknow has joined us in the campus to share their views and ideas. The Institutional Health Club of AIP, AUUP-L the “Sanjeevani Club” was also inaugurated during this ceremony. “Sanjeevani Club” has been established by faculty coordinators Dr. Neha Mathur, Dr. Supriya Roy, Ms Anila Mishra and student volunteers from Pharm D under the able guidance of Prof. Dr. Anuradha Mishra, Director AIP, AUUP-L to undertake and execute several health-related activities in the campus. An awareness skit on “The role of pharmacists in ADR reporting” was presented on stage by Pharm D students of AIP, AUUP-L and was highly admired by the audience of this event.

To observe this week, various activities including 2 online guest lectures and several competitions (like Placard making competition, Slogan writing Competition and Short Animation Video Making, English Elocution, Pharma Quiz and Model Making Competition) for pharmacy students were conducted in the department from 17.9.2024 to 23.9.24. The eminent speakers of the guest lectures were Mr. Ayan Pramanik, Operation Specialist, IQVIA and Prof. (Dr.) Bikash Medi, Professor, Depat. Of Pharmacology, PGIMER, Chandigarh.This one-week program was greatly appreciated by students and faculties of AIP, AUUP, Lucknow Campus.
