IIA UP Chapter Managing Committee members held meetings with the Director, faculty and students of Amity School of Architecture and planning, Lucknow to plan out the events during the IIA NATCON 2024, Lucknow. Various committees were formed to undertake different works during the event example Place Making, Painting and Photography competition, sketching competition, Panel Discussion, Hospitality, design of installations to be put up at the venue, heritage walk, design workshops for students by eminent professionals etc.
Day 1 (9th Feb,2024): Inaugural Session:Architects, interior designers, students of various design institutions and leading citizens from a large cross section of society participated in the IIA NATCON 2024. As a part of this exhibitions, symposiums, panel discussions, workshops, competitions were organised. Through this initiative, a message about importance of good design was sent to public at large and an effort was made to burst certain myths and pre-conceived notions about architecture and interior design. The objective of NATCON 2024 was to take design to the masses and enrich lives of public at large by way of appropriate design interventions.Mr. Ashish Singh Patel, Technical Education Minister for UP, President Council of Architecture, Prof. Abhay Purohit, President, IIA, Ar. Vilas Avachat and the entire national executive team of IIA and CoA along with the officials of IIA, UP Chapter, Institute of Indian Interior Designers Lucknow Chapter, UP Association of Architects and Lucknow Association of Architects were present during the inaugural function.
Day 2 (10th Feb, 2024) participation of Amity students and faculties (at Dilkusha Kothi): Photography & Sketching:
The thought of design is not limited only to create beautiful spaces but to document and showcase it through sketches and photographs. With this objective, the professionals, students and sketching artists were invited to participate in Photography & Sketching Competition to capture the beauty of heritage properties and monuments of Lucknow through sketches and also to click outstanding and awe-inspiring interior spaces through the lens of camera. Selected sketches and photographs were displayed at the event venue for public viewing at Ekana Stadium. Through this IIA UP Chapter acknowledged the skills and creative pursuits of some of the citizens of Lucknow. ASAPL Faculty Dr. Arun Kapur coordinated the event for the NATCON 2024.
Day 2 (10th Feb, 2024) of participation:
Lucknow popularly known as City of Nawabs, with a huge legacy of beautiful heritage properties and monuments, spread across the city. Keeping this in mind, IIA NATCON 2024 planned to organise series of seminars by eminent architects including Ar. Ashish Sompura, architect of Ram Mandir at Ayodyha. Here, leading designers, eminent citizens and students of architecture and interior design participated in design discussion pertaining to art, culture and heritage of the historic city of Lucknow.The ambience and mood here was informal but the deliberation was meaningful for keeping the rich traditions alive and for conservation and upkeep of priceless and amazing heritage of Lucknow.
Participation ASAPL faculties and students at La Martinière College in Design talk – Design pe Charcha
Days of participation (09th, 10th and 11th Feb, 2024) in IIA NATCON 2024 by Amity Students and faculties: IIA UP Chapter and AIM jointly organised a three-day exhibition of architectural products and building materials – IIA NATCON 2024, organised at Ekana Stadium Lawns. Deliberations on design trends were also organised as concurrent event in the same campus. There were interesting workshops for the design students and skill development workshops on various industry trades. Interesting art installations at the venue, apart from a display of sketches and photographs were also observed. Large number of designers from different parts of the country and the state of Uttar Pradesh, participated in the design conference and witnessed an interesting array of product display at the exhibition.
Three faculty members from ASAP, Lucknow coordinated the event from Amity University, UP, Lucknow Campus. Prof. Suparna Sircar, Ms. Swetika Porwal and Dr. Arun Kapur represented the institute during the event along with other faculty members.
The painting competition and photography competition was curated by Dr. Arun Kapur, ASAP, AUUP, Lucknow Campus This event was held on 11th Feb 2024 at Dilkusha Kothi, Lucknow. More than 60 professionals and students of architecture and interior design participated in the event and the sketches were exhibited during the event. Students of B.Arch and BID of ASAPL also participated in the event.
The event had many panel discussions based on different themes. The panellists were all experts from the field of architecture and design. It was a mix of senior academicians and established professionals. One of the panel discussions on the theme of “Architectural Practice in the Mofussil towns in India” was moderated by Dr. Arun Kapur, ASAPL. The panellists included Ar. Harbinder Pal Singh from Jammu, Ar. B Sudhir from Thiruvananthapuram, Ar. Gautam Naik from Mumbai, Ar. Avitesh Nayak, Sushant University and Ar. Prashant Pal Singh, President LAA. The panel discussion talked about the scope of architects and interior designers in the small towns of India.
