Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics



Located in Nanjing, the ancient capital of six dynasties, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Minggugong Campus is situated on the remains of the ancient Ming Palace, and Jiangjunlu Campus is situated in Jiangning Economic and Technological Development Zone, covering an area of more than 460 acres with a building area of 856, 000 square meters.

Over the years, NUAA has evolved from a teaching-oriented university to a research-oriented university. It is a national key university characteristic of science and engineering. It

enjoys a well-balanced development of multiple disciplines in engineering and technology, management sciences, natural sciences, humanities and social sciences with the characteristics of aeronautics, astronautics and civil aviation.

Major Highlights of the University

Research study and innovations

NUAA has made a lot of unprecedented breakthroughs in many key projects concerning aeronautic and astronautic research and national defence programs. 15 research orientations remained top levels and 21 advanced levels in China. The technologies in the fields of helicopter, unmanned aircraft, mechanical engineering and automation have not only bridged the gaps but also remained top levels in China. NUAA has developed the famous “CK” series of unmanned aircraft and other series of helicopter.

The School has greatly prompted technological innovations that are widely applied in the national defence industry and development of local economy. For the last 10 ten years it ranked among the top levels in all China’s universities and colleges in terms of the annual research fund, the number of scientific achievements and the publication of academic papers. So far NUAA has achieved a total of 926 awards, 38 of which are national ones. NUAA has been one of the top 10 universities in China for 9 years continuously in terms of the annual number of research achievements. Because of that, it was awarded “Unit of Great Contributions” by AVIC.
