Amity University, AUUP, Noida is a research-driven university and put forth a dual mission; to educate students and to discover new knowledge frontiers through innovations, industry interaction and infrastructure development. The university remains in sync with expanding frontiers of academics and industrial practices with more than 300 ongoing research projects funded by Government, Non-government and global funding agencies and collaborations with many national and international organizations. Amity’s focus towards SDG 9 is progressed by equipping staff and students alike to tackle challenges related to resilient infrastructure and sustainable industrialization. Amity University, AUUP, Noida recognizes the importance of research in driving SDG 9. Faculty members, students are encouraged to collaborate on research projects with industries, that contribute significantly towards other SDGs. In the year 2022, university published overall 2133 research papers/ conferences/ book chapters University promotes culture of research excellence through following practices:

  1. Mandatory publishing in high-indexed and reputed Scopus journals (Cell, Lancet, ACS, Oxford Journals, Nature Publishing group, Taylor & Francis, Springer, Elsevier, Wiley Publishing) as part of the doctoral programs and academic staff research output.
  2. Student thesis work, theory class assignments and summer program portfolios are encouraged to be converted into research publications and innovations to contribute towards the societal benefits in large.
  3. Research topics perused by the doctoral program scholars are accepted on the overall contribution of the area of interest towards industry promotion and leading to new innovations.
  4. Establishment of Amity Science, Technology & Innovation Foundation (ASTIF) as the umbrella body of the Amity Education Group for promoting and facilitating Research and Innovation in Science, Technology and Innovation in all Amity Universities. It awards Fellowships to brilliant young researchers and scientists who possess the competence and motivation for carrying out cutting-edge research in thrust areas.

The resultant of these publications often contains innovative ideas, methodologies, and technologies and thus make Amity a massive hub of innovation, and through publications and patents. In the year 2022, several patents were registered by Amity University, AUUP, Noida across technological areas like Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, Sensors, Materials, Herbal and Ayurvedic medicines, Healthcare, Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals, and Computer Science etc. These accomplishments have been achieved only due to the state of art infrastructure provided by the university. Laboratories and research centers are established and also funded to the university under relevant innovative and research driven projects, where students and researchers worked side by side, exploring cutting-edge technologies and solving real-world problems. Amity Institute of Information technology (AIIT) at the university, in the above-mentioned regard is committed to undertake key research in emerging areas. Focus of Research and Development (R&D) at AIIT is to aid the government agencies, industry leaders and corporates in achieving self-reliance in technology.  Major areas of research at AIIT include Big Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, Algorithm, Bio-Medical Imaging, and many inter-disciplinary research.

The Amity Innovation Incubator at the Noida campus also plays a pivotal role in supporting and progressing SDG 9, by acting as a mentor to young start-up companies & provides full support to raise seed funds, interact with venture capitalists, establish business, recruit talent, network with peers, that help them to attain success in business ventures. The Incubator is a pioneering concept in the context of Indian Universities. Supported by DST, Ministry of Science & Technology, GOI, 'Amity Innovation Incubator ' has earned an enviable position for itself with start-ups which have regularly been on top of the innovation curve and have been recognized on platforms like 'The Power of ideas', Read Herring Global winner, Tata NEN and NASSCOM Innovation Awards to name a few. The incubator works on to strengthen collaboration between industry and academia, and turn ideas into viable businesses, encourages the students also for entrepreneurship with its student internship and student incubator program. The university successfully commercializes the new technologies and processes from labs to industry in order to reap fruits of investments in R&D, through the incubation cell, for the larger benefit of the society and bringing a positive impact on the lives brought about by the advancements in various fields.

Research publications and investments for R&D have facilitated collaborations between Amity University, industries, governmental organizations and NGOs over the course of many years. These collaborations have in turn lead to joint research projects, knowledge exchange, and technology transfer, fostering a collaborative environment conducive to support SDG 17. Industry interaction workshops, guest lectures held in theory and studio courses to create a cross- sectoral dialogue exchange are a mandatory part of academic curriculum at the university. Workshops and training sessions are organized, empowering individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in the rapidly evolving digital landscape. Beyond the confines of the campus, Amity also reached out to the local community, initiating programs that promoted technological literacy and skills development. These collaborations aim to address significant innovation and design challenges across various fields such as STEM, medicine, and applied sciences. For instance, the Directorate of Innovation and Technology Transfer (DITT) at Amity University's Noida campus serves as an Industry Interface Organization. It provides a conducive environment for translating ideas into product prototypes, offers solutions to industry-specific problems, and fosters joint research and development initiatives with industry partners to bring market-ready products.
