ASFA organizes various activities like Seminars & Talk Shows to have
an interaction with the Industry Professionals

Ms. Nilanjana Nandy an eminent artist and an art educator was invited by Amity School of Fine Arts (ASFA) to deliver a guest lecture on 28th Oct 2016. Ms.Nandy is a recipient of Scholarship for Pont Aven School of Art, France; Junior fellowship and a National Scholarship. As an art educator she has worked with several schools and colleges of Delhi NCR. At Sandarbh, artist in residence program she has engaged with children from a remote village of Rajasthan

Ms. Nandy’s talk titled ‘Drawing, a Conversation’ revolved around her works, primarily drawings and she also spoke at length how her interaction with the community affects her studio practice. While on one hand she discussed her visual language using and innovative use of graph paper and archival paper on the other she brought in interesting visuals and stories dealing with her social projects

Memorial lecture on Prof. Kalpati Ganapati Subramanyan was held on 21st October, 2016 at Amity School of Fine Arts, Amity University Uttar Pradesh

Prof. Kalpati Ganapati Subramanyan aka Mani Da, who recently passed away, leaving an irreplaceable void in the art world. Prof. K. G. Subramanyan was an artist, academician, educator and writer whose immense contribution to Indian art scene requires no introduction

The event started off by welcoming and felicitating our Guest of Honour, Mr. Anandamoy Banerjee, renowned artist and educator by Director General of ASFA, Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Joshi. Mr. Anandamoy Banerjee has been a close associate and student of Prof. Subramanyan. Mr. Banerjee shared his college day memoirs and anecdotes with the students, reflecting back on different shades of his teacher, Prof. K. G. Subramanyan. He also shared his view on changing pedagogic structures

Apart from Mr. Banerjee’s lecture, Mr. Swapan Bhandary, who has also been a close student of K.G.S. shared his thoughts on Mani Da. A slide show presentation on K. G. Subramanyan’s visual world was also presented to the audience, mapping his broad oeuvre in a chronological sequence. A small video was also shown in this event which captured the persona of the legend. A painted portrait of Prof. K. G. Subramanyan, by final year B.F.A. Mr. Jon visited Amity School of Fine Arts, Amity University U.P. on 11th Aug 2016. Since he is an eminent Art Practitioner, Designer and an Academician, he enthusiastically opted to know and participate in the academic processes of ASFA, thus he had warm discussions with Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Joshi, Director General, ASFA, ASFT & ASPA, as well as he had interacted with faculty members and students of ASFA both personally and formally. The students were motivated by his wise words and experienced suggestions while the classroom discussions

ASFA conducted a Slideshow projecting the general background and field of interests and works of Mr. Jon Jicha by presenting his works of art. The Slideshow was attended by all the faculty members and students body of ASFA and facilitated with inspiring information through the direct interaction

Mr. Mantu Das, a young contemporary painter and installation artist presently based in Guwahati, Assam- came to deliver a talk and slide show presentation on 3rd November, 2017 at I-1 block, 5th floor, Room no 510. The talk was attended by Bachelors and Master degree students of Painting and Applied arts. Mr. Mantu focused on his journey as an artist and showed works from his college days at Kala Bhavana, Santiniketan- his alma mater. The slide show mapped his transformation as an artist in a chronological manner. He discussed how folk narratives and images are woven into his compositions. He shared his ideation process behind his works and how he borrows inspiration and visuals from mundane activities. He also showed his light and video installation works done in India as well as in Russia, Sweden and Taiwan. The students had a productive interactive session after his talk. He also informed students about various residency and scholarship programs.

Amity School of Fine Arts, AUUP, Noida Campus had organized a Film Screening and Brainstorming session on Wednesday, 20th September 2017, in celebration of World Peace Week. The 2007 Iranian- French movie ‘Buddha Collapsed Out of Shame’ directed by Hana Makhmalbaf was screened at I-2 block, 5th Floor, Room No-506. The film revolves around two children in Taliban occupied Afganisthan who lives in Bamiyan, within the vicinity of the demolished colossal Buddha- a lost symbol of world peace. The film explores the idea of terrorism in a subtle way. It explores the ideas of gender inequality, terrorism, and fear. A discussion session followed the screening on the theme: Terrorism-A Threat to World Peace. Students had an enlightening brainstorming session, while discussing their ideas of terrorism and the probable methods to counter it for a peaceful future.

Eminent Indian artist and academician Ms. Kavita Nayar delivered a talk focusing on her personal artistic journey on 12th September at F-2 Seminar hall of AUUP, Noida.

Opening remarks were delivered by Prof. (Dr) Pradeep Joshi , Director General, Amity Directorate of Applied Arts/ Fine Arts/ Performaing Arts/ Visual Arts highlighting the importance of Industry and Professional artist’s interaction and how student’s can make the most benefit’s out of these talks.

Her talk was entitled –‘Search within and Beyond’. Ms. Nayar shared her works and thoughts with the audience, speaking about her ever transforming journey and artistic process. She spoke about her explorations of rasa theory in her various works and shared how her training in classical dance forms helped her in her painterly practice. She motivated the students to critically engage with their works and find inspiration from mundane events. She presented her works along with several anecdotes which helped the audience to get a glimpse into her artistic oeuvre.
