CURRICULUM
Catering to Holistic Development
|
Amity believes in holistic learning approach by giving equal importance to scholastics
and co scholastic areas. Our curriculum in scholastic areas is based on core subjects
focuses not on providing just knowledge, but also on the development of concepts,
skills and ideas.
Students are encouraged to excel in the Music, Dance, Drama, Art, Technology, Physical
Education and Personal, Social and Health Education for an all round holistic development.

SUBJECTS OFFERED
|
The School is affiliated to CBSE to run all the two streams namely Science and Commerce
in Senior School. Apart from compulsory subjects, the School offers a wide range
of subject choices like - Biology, Computer Science, Dance(Kathak), Fine Arts Home
Science, Legal Studies, Sculpture, Painting, Economics, Psychology and Physical
Education.

METHODOLOGY
|
At AIS, we provide education with an objective to empower students to make decisions,
to find creative solutions and plan effective action strategies. The curriculum
is structured in a manner that keeps your child in touch with the ever-changing
world trends, right from the junior years to the senior level.
We constantly revamp, reinvent and evaluate the classroom and teaching strategy
to create the most appropriate education that your child deserves. The study programme
for all learning levels is unique because it is a cross-fertilization of the finest
teaching methodologies.
The Pre-Primary Level (Nursery and Kindergarten)

- Learning is made interesting, fun and activity oriented at this level
- Participation of the students is encouraged through such activities as drawing and
coloring, writing, group games, clay modelling, puzzles, flash cards and conversations.
- Poems and stories are dramatized using expressive actions •
- Focus is on developing communication skills and on reinforcing an innate sense of
discovery in everything that is taught
- Children learn to comprehend through a multisensory approach as concepts in Number
Work, English and E.V.S. are made clear with the use of multimedia
- Nature walks and regular educational tours to the Zoos, Railway Museums and Game
Parks develop a sense of openness towards the world

Primary Level (Class I to Class V)
|
- A thematic approach is designed to stimulate the children through various inter-active
sessions and activities
- An extensive use of technology aids to supplement classroom teaching
- Project works in class calls for mass participation. An equal emphasis is laid on
developing a strong sense of individuality
- Field trips and excursions make learning fun
- Use of the newspaper articles, quizzes, crosswords and other learning tools enhance
general awareness

Middle Level (Class VI to Class VIII)
|
- The emphasis is on acquiring in-depth conceptual knowledge
- The curriculum is research oriented and based on teamwork vis-à-vis discussions,
group project work, discovery and exploration
- Personality development, value education and coping with peer pressure are stressed
upon at this stage
- Students work in groups and make power point presentations on subject related topics.
Parents are also invited for such presentations

Senior Secondary Level (Class IX to Class XII)
|
- Science and Commerce are among the main academic streams offered at AIS
- Various combinations of subjects are offered so that students can pursue their desired
courses of study later in life
- An equal stress is laid on preparing students for the prescribed CBSE syllabus with
prime focus on CCE for secondary classes and on preparing the students for the various
competitive entrance examinations towards senior secondary.
- Result oriented training is imparted by experienced professionals who target for
total development and desired success
- Extra coaching classes take place after school hours at the Amity Institute for
Competitive Examinations (AICE), established on the campus
- The concept of Synchro-Study has been introduced to reduce stress levels of students.
A synchronized study pattern is maintained between the course content of the board
examinations and that of the competitive entrance examinations
- Students have complete access to the various laboratories and library resources,
specially designed for the study and research requirements of the senior level students

SCHOLARSHIPS
|
The school offers scholarships and scholar badges to deserving and meritorious students.
Prizes and awards are given to students of all classes for both academics and co-curricular
activities.
The scholarships are given to students from classes V-XI
|
- The scholarships for students of classes V-VIII are selected on the basis of achieving
90% and above, amongst all sections (top 5 students of each class are given scholarship
only if they get above 90%)
- For Class XI the percentage is 85% and above
- A student who has achieved CGPA 10 both in Class IX and X and who has been receiving
scholarship for past 4 consecutive years is given a scholarship and Founder’s
trophy in class XI and their badge displays 7 stars
- Each subject topper gets a trophy and a certificate
- Trophies and certificates are given for non-academics subjects also
- Scholar badges are given to all CGPA 10 holders of class IX and X.

GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING
|
Counsellors are the heart of the school. Role of a Counsellor is to help student
to help himself/herself through teaching him various skills and techniques. Aim
of counseling is to bring balance in knowledge skills and attitudes. Child becomes
more self-reliant, confident and responsible after interactionand counselor. His
self image improves. The individual as well as group counseling are carried out.
Counselling is for all students. Teachers and Parents generally counseling areas
are:
- Adolescent issues
- Adjustment issues
- Behavioral difficulties
- Stress,anxiety and aggression
- Relationship issues
- Poor achievement
- Careers Workshops
WorkshWorkshops are conducted from time to time on topics like study skills, time
management, life skills, stress management, career counseling etc. Effective parenting
workshops are held for parents by experts from outside as well school counselors.
Resource person are also invited from fields of designing, management and Defence
services etc. to orient students on various career options.

SPECIAL EDUCATION
|
Inclusion is an effort to make sure that all learners including children with disabilities
access school along with other children. They receive specially designed support
and instruction which they need to succeed as learners.
Learning Centre in our school is a special room where the children with special
educational needs go for special instruction. This room serves as an extension of
the classroom where special teachers is available to help these children during
the short period away from their classroom. It is an educational call aberration
of class teachers, subject teachers, activity teachers along with counselor and
special educator for the meaningful participation of students with disabilities.
In the learning centre we have teaching materials like white boards, books, specially
created worksheets, flash cards, educational games, graded readers, teaching aids
to suit the needs of each type of learning difficulties.

Workshops
|
Eminent dignitaries and guest speakers are invited to address the students and share
their professional views. Through these workshops students are provided with extensive
information on various issues and concerns.

Aptitude Testing and Career Guidance
|
An amazing and comprehensive career counselling programme for Xth class students
is organized by the school, with Amity Career Counselling and Guidance Cell in coordination
with Amity Institute of Psychology and Allied Sciences for all the students.
Aptitude Testing is undertaken and students are given various personality tests
like Interests, Ability (Verbal Ability, Numerical Ability, Spatial Ability, Closure
Ability, Clerical Ability, Reasoning Ability, Mechanical Ability, Psycho-Motor Ability),
Personality Tests followed by individual career counselling. Career fairs are organized
to help students and parents to know about emerging careers.
