Background: The knowledge regarding herbal supplements and how they are used to relieve illness and promote health. Programme comprises preparation and uses of herbal medicine, aromatherapy, cosmetics, nutraceuticals, cultivation and sustainable harvesting of medicinal and aromatic plants. It will be of significance to work in herbal products marketer, herbal consultant or clinical herbalist self-employment. The growing popularity of alternative & complimentary medicine treatment, may be in increasing demand for health workers specializing in this field.

Day 01 (Part- I): Introduction to Medicinal & Aromatic Plants

  • Identification, agronomy & post-harvest processing of commercially important Medicinal & Aromatic Plants (MAPs),
  • Herbal system of medicine: Disease and Treatment
  • Fundamentals of Essential Oils & Holistic Aromatherapy
  • Basic principles for Phyto-therapy and balanced Personalized Diet Therapy.
  • Benefits of Treatment by Natural Methods

Day 01 (Part- II):  Organic Cultivation and Certification Process of MAPs.

  • Organic Cultivation of Medicinal & Aromatic plants
  • Procedure for Organic Certification Process
  • Agro techniques of important medicinal & aromatic plants processing, extraction, purification & storage of medicinal & aromatic plants.
  • Raw material, formulation and composite preparations of herbal medicine, Routes of administration.

Day 02 (Part- I):  Herbal Health care: Functional foods, Nutraceuticals & Cosmeceuticals

  • Importance of phytochemicals in nutraceuticals, functional foods as adjuvant Diet therapy.
  • Functional foods for health problems: like anaemia & malnutrition, immunity & memory enhancer, diabetes, obesity, cancer, hypertension, Cardiovascular, osteoporosis, lactating mothers and digestive system.
  • Production of herbal & cosmetic Products: Chavan Prash, kwath, Ashava, Herbal Tea, Ayurvedic Secrets for preparation of natural and organic skin care products for enchanting everlasting beauty, positive mind and stress free emotions, effective home remedies.

Day 02 (Part- II):  Microbiology & Herbal Products

  • Microbiology of Herbal Products: Safety and efficacy
  • Process for Herbal Health Care Products: Herbal hair oil, shampoo, body wash, lip balm, pain balm, floor cleaner, mosquito spray, Herbal fruit & vegetable wash, Herbal toilet seat sanitizer, Herbal mouth freshener.
