Dr. N.P.S. Chauhan
Ms. Sakshi Saini (M.Sc. Wildlife Sciences – 2020-2022)

I first entered Amity Institute of Forestry and Wildlife (AIFW) with a limited or superficial understanding of wildlife sciences as a field, but I graduated as a professional with an in-depth understanding of the field and familiarity with her areas of interest. AIFW, as a place, holds a lot of significance and meaning for me. I became a better version of myself as a result of the hour-long discussions I have had with my professors and peers here. These discussions had a significant influence on me both at professional and personal levels. The students at AIFW get the chance to speak with the professors one on one about a variety of subjects which helps them develop their perspectives and opinions about the subject, along with identifying their areas of interest.

I am currently working as Programme Associate at Wetlands International South Asia in the ‘Integrated Management of Wetlands Biodiversity Ecosystem Services’ project. I work here at the interface of science and policies for wetland conservation and management.

Mr. Janam Jai Sehgal (M.Sc. Wildlife Sciences – 2018-2020)

I am proud to be an alumnus of AIFW. The experienced faculty at AIFW has provided me with theoretical and practical knowledge about wildlife research which helped me to excel my career as Large Carnivore Researcher.

Currently, I am working as a Research Assistant at the Chair of Wildlife Ecology and Management, University of Freiburg, Germany and looking for a doctoral position.

  Ms. Meghana T (M.Sc. Wildlife Sciences – 2019-2021)

The Amity Institute of forestry and Wildlife has helped me find my specific areas of interests in the field of wildlife science. Apart from the regular academic courses, the guidance I have received during my summer internship and the dissertation has helped in building the foundation for the journey I am pursuing as a researcher.

I am currently working as a Research Affiliate (Programme Associate) at Dakshin Foundation, where my responsibilities include conducting primary and secondary research for various projects under the Sustainable Fisheries Programme. These projects entail engaging in field surveys, including tasks like assessing biological samples, conducting actor/ stakeholder interviews.

Ms. Shreya Pandey (M.Sc. Wildlife Sciences – 2020-2022)

It has been a great opportunity to be a part of Amity Institute of Forestry and Wildlife. I have gained immense exposure and multi-spectral knowledge related to the field of Wildlife research and conservation which has helped me develop a broad idea in assessing the challenges associated with it and overcoming them.

Currently, I am a doctoral research scholar at Ecology and Genetics unit in the University of Oulu, Finland

Mr. J.C. Kala
Ms. Ananya Dutta (M.Sc. Wildlife Sciences – 2019-2021)

Amity has provided me with great exposure to the wildlife community. I have been grateful to the faculty who have nurtured our minds. We had a different understanding and mindset about wildlife science before we enrolled in this program, but Amity showed us a whole different side to the fun and adventure we had imagined. We learned "Science" as a part of conservation and how to bring forth it with diplomacy and understanding.

Since February 2022, I have been working as a Research Biologist at the Wildlife Institute of India on the Project Tiger project "Country level assessment of Tigers, Co-predators, Prey, and Mega-herbivores."

Mr. Prakhar Rawal (M.Sc. Wildlife Sciences – 2018-2020)

"Coming from an engineering background, I am grateful to AIFW for giving me an opportunity and platform to pursue the field of ecology and wildlife. Apart from subject knowledge, I received incredible guidance and support from the faculty which has been critical in shaping my career so far.

My primary interests lie in improving habitats for biodiversity, particularly birds, in human-modified landscapes. I am currently a doctoral researcher in University of Turku, Finland studying bird communities in wetlands in Finland and India. My research interests include community ecology, conservation biology, and bioacoustics. "

Mr. Ryan Arambam (B.Sc. (Hons.) Forestry – 2018-2022)

Amity Institute of Forestry and Wildlife was and always been what I needed it to be, it was a teacher, friend, mentor, etc. The institute will always have a place in my heart as I learned from it and it was there for me at a very important time of my life. For this I will always remain grateful to the institute.

Presently, I am pursuing my Masters in Wood Science and Technology for Forest Research Institute, Dehradun

Mr. J.C. Kala
Ms. Fatima Jabeen (M.Sc. Wildlife Sciences – 2017-2019)

Amity Institute of Forestry and Wildlife offers Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs in Forestry and Wildlife. Few universities offer this course in India and AIFW is one of them. Post-graduation in Wildlife from AIFW gave me an interdisciplinary learning experience. The institute's fieldwork and molecular biology training primed me with the essential skills to work as a researcher.

Currently, I am pursuing my doctorate in Entomology from the Federal University of Viçosa, Brazil and I am studying systematics and phylogenetics of aquatic insects from this region.

Wildlife Quotes

"The spruce and cedar on its shores, hung with gray lichens, looked at a distance like the ghosts of trees. Ducks were sailing here and there on its surface, and a solitary loon, like a more living wave, - a vital spot on the lake's surface, - laughed and frolicked, and showed its straight leg, for our amusement."
