About AIARS (M&D) and AIRAE
Amity Institute for Advanced Research and Studies [Materials and Devices] (AIARS[M&D])
With a goal to make India the global powerhouse in research and innovation, new range of technologies are required to spread from lab-to-land and mind-to-market, for the benefit of society. For that a specialized research centers is required, which acts as bridge between Universities and Industries, so that the technologies developed by universities with the help of industries can be directly utilized for the benefits of mankind.
Under the kind guidance and a broad vision of our Founder President, Dr.Ashok K. Chauhan, the AIARS (M&D) was established under the leadership of Dr. V. K. Jain.
The objective of the institute is to invent new materials, develop new technologies and reach up to the product. It also includes publishing research papers in good & reputed journals and patenting the technology. Technology transfer is also a motive to our all researchers.
The major aim of the centre is to promote the research in the area of renewable energy, advanced materials and electronic devices. The centre’s focus is on the scientific challenges in the development of energy sector and smart electronics for the next generation of environmentally friendly energy sources, and sensor technology.
AIARS (M&D) is also offering the PhD programs in the following areas:
- Materials and Devices
- Nanoscience
- Biosensors
- Polymer Science
- MEMS & NEMS
Amity Institute of Renewable and Alternative Energy (AIRAE)
Considering the importance & wide applications of Renewable energies, Amity University established an Amity Institute of Renewable and Alternative Energy (AIRAE). The broad aim of the Institute is to generate trained manpower for national and international industrial and academic organizations in the area of Alternative and Renewable Energy. The institute has started M.Tech and B.Tech. courses in Solar and Alternative Energy. Being the first course of its kind in the country, it was a challenging job to have undertaken. The programme comprises of conceptual knowledge of solar and other renewable energy systems.
-
B. Tech. - Solar and Alternative Energy:
This is a four years (8 semesters) course for students having 10+2 qualification in science. Apart from regular classes and practicals, the students of this course are given 6 weeks summer training and a 6 months dissertation during the course of their study.
-
M.Tech. - Solar and Alternative Energy:
This is a two years (4 semesters) course for students having B.Tech or M Sc. Degrees. Apart from regular classes and practicals, the students of this course are given 6 weeks summer training after the completion of 2nd semester and a 6 months dissertation in the 4th semester.
-
Ph.D. Programs in ‘Solar Energy’ & ‘Renewable and Alternate Energy’ :
This is a minimum two years full time or three years part-time program for students having PG qualification in science or technology. In the first two semesters, the student has to clear minimum number of courses as per the guide lines of AUUP.
The programme structure and curriculum are designed in such a manner that the students of this institute can have capabilities for either choosing higher research or industrial job as their career.
With global climate change issues occupying a prominent position in science and technology, industry and international relations, the role of renewable energy management has come into a sharp focus in recent years. M.Tech and B.Tech in Solar and Alternative Energy, aims to produce skilled professionals who will harness the potential of renewable energy for a greener world and mark themselves in not only INDIA’s but also World’s 2020 Mission.
