ASCo Gender Sensitization Activities
Gender issues and problems have always been a major area of social concern and one of the most debatable topic for years. Various initiatives in the direction of addressing gender problems have been taken both by the government as well as voluntary organizations from time to time to raise awareness about these issues among the masses and to restore gender justice and gender equality.
To dedicate a day to these major social issues, Amity School of Communication under the aegis of Gender Cell organized a number of competitions to showcase various areas of great concern related to gender issues. The students actively participated in the various activities like Skit, Debate and Poster Presentation Competitions and their excellent performances enthralled the audiences and made them rethink on such issues which we come across every day.
The event was graced by Prof.(Dr.) Amit Jain, Pro Vice Chancellor & Dean Faculty of Management, Prof.(Dr.) G.K.Aseri, Dean Academics & Director AIMT, Prof. S.S. Bahl, Dean Students Welfare, Brig (Retd). Govind Singh Rathore, OSD, Mr. Rahul Tripathi, Proctor, AUR and Dr.Jayati Sharma, Coordinator, ASCO and all other faculty members and students of ASCO. Speaking on the significance of the event Prof. Jain commented that such events play a major role in creating awareness about these major grass root problems which are very much talked about in various circles. He also praised the exemplary efforts of the students and commented that the event was excellently coordinated and that many more such events should be organized in future.
The Gender Sensitization Activities included Debate Competition in English and Hindi on the topics, “Bollywood Filmon mein Mahilayon ka Chitrankan” and “Do Women really require Empowerment in today’s times?”. The Skit performances of the students enlightened the esteemed gathering about the basic rights of marriage of LGBT Sections of people and beautifully exhibited their inner feelings and sentiments. The flawless performances of the students made the audience emotional and thoughtful. The event was coordinated by Dr. Tanushri Mukherjee, Dy-Director Outcome, AUR & Associate Prof. ASCO.
