CELEBRATION OF MATRUBHASHA DIWAS AT AMITY UNIVERSITY MADHYA PRADESH

 

The occasion of International Mother Language Day /Matrubhasha Diwas was celebrated in Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior, on 20th February 2020 from 12:00 pm to 05.10 pm, during which various activities were conducted within the campus. The objectives of the celebration were to sensitise the University students about the history behind the celebration of the day, the essence of mother tongue in students’ lives, to understand the need for greater use of mother tongue and other Indian languages, and also to incorporate feelings of national togetherness and oneness and love for culture and traditions. 

 

The list of activities employed to incorporate the aforesaid ideologies and thought behind the celebration is as follows:

  • Role-plays using various regional languages
  • Debates on why and how to incorporate regional languages in daily life
  • Group Discussion on the origin, importance of mother tongue, problems and future endeavours to safeguard the regional languages
  • Essay Writing Competition on the importance of mother tongue in the life of a citizen in India
  • Extempore on interesting facts related to regional languages and their origin, and culture and tradition

 

Overall, the students actively participated in the activities conducted to sensitise them about the need for greater use of mother tongue and other Indian languages in their lives and creatively presented their ideas and thoughts regarding the same.
