SDG-1: No Poverty

Amity University Haryana is strongly committed to the goal of ‘No Poverty’ and playing an impactful role in ensuring compliance in terms of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as per the mandate of the United Nations to make universities living ‘laboratory of sustainability’. To fulfill the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations in terms of poverty eradication, Amity University Haryana aims to provide quality education by improving access to sustainable livelihood and employment opportunities, entrepreneurial capabilities, and encouraging greater productivity. The high quality and multidimensional scale of Amity University Haryana’s efforts and endeavors to transform itself into a sustainable campus has been duly recognized as India’s first University and Asia’s 2nd to earn a LEED Platinum Certificate from the US Green Building Council. The University is meaningfully contributing to the SDG-1 through following measures:

  • Inclusive admission policy to various programs of the University in a manner that is based on merit cum need basis catering to all sections of the deserving population.
  • Scholarship support to students from low-income families
  • Financial assistance: support in getting hassle-free bank loans and easy education financing options
  • Provide ‘earn while learn’ opportunities to students in terms of a dynamic approach for pursuing internships with industries belonging to both public and private sectors as well as think tanks.
  • Placement assistance to all students for employment
  • Special emphasis is imparted by the University in providing need-based admission and financial assistance to female students as part of deliberate endeavors to reduce social inequality and enhance employment opportunities to girls/women so that they are adequately empowered and may come out of poverty and become self-reliant.
  • Amity Innovation Incubator providing start-up support for new ventures inclusively and sustainably for credible job creation and poverty alleviation.
  • Outreach activities supporting poor people in the society and contributing to their overall physical and mental well-being
  • Providing free medical services in the local community from time to time such as conducting free dental check-up camps, free eye-check up camp, and distribution of essential medicines as and when required.
