Tohonor and remember the sacrifices of our great leaders and freedom fighters, 72^ndIndependence Day was celebrated with great patriotic fervor and gaiety bythousands of faculty members, staff and students of Amity University, who weredecked up in beautiful tri-color attires and accessories.

Thecelebrations commenced with the Flag Hoisting by Dr. Atul Chauhan,Chancellor Amity University Uttar Pradesh and Dr. (Prof) Balvinder Shukla, ViceChancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh in the presence of Mrs. PoojaChauhan, Vice Chairperson, Amity Humanity Foundation; Mr. Abhay Chauhan, CEO,schoolshop.com; Mrs. Jaishree Chauhan, Vice Chairperson, Amity Finishing Schooland other senior officials of Amity.

Duringthe occasion, students presented a colorful cultural extravaganza of soulsoothing dance performances and melodious patriotic songs including Ae Watan,Ae Mere watan ke logo, Desh mere desh mere- meri jaan hai tu, Suno gaur seduniya walo, saare jahan se acha and many more. The brilliant performers andbest dressed as per day’s theme were also awarded.

Addressingthe gathering, Dr. Atul Chauhan stated that the youth should understandthe meaning and importance of freedom; our forefathers have struggled to ensurefree and independent India for coming generations. He stressed that youth hasbeen entrusted with the great responsibility to lead India onto the path ofgrowth, success and glory. He opined he is proud of Amitians who have cometogether in such a large number to celebrate Independence Day which shows thelove and respect Amity family has for the nation. Dr. Chauhan shared that it isthe vision of Founder President- Dr. Ashok K Chauhan that every Amitian shouldcontribute, in his or her own way, towards the development of nation.

Sharingher views, Dr. Balvinder Shukla said that India owes its freedom to thepeople who kept country before their own selves and did not even think twicebefore sacrificing their lives. She called upon the students to let the spiritand flame of patriotism alive in them throughout their lives and try servingthe country in whichever way they can. Dr. Shukla apprised that Amity has beenencouraging the youth to be the future entrepreneurs, as entrepreneurship willaid the country ahead towards development.
